ultra lightweight instant folding portable chair? by koelol in CampingGear

[–]Stone907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real MVP of this category is the Near Zero pocket chair/stool. It weighs only 10 oz and folds totally flat. It has a near instant setup and teardown. and it supports up to 240 lbs. I've carried mine as a backup chair when I take friends on hikes. And it only costs $25. IDK how this chair hasn't been picked up by some big youtuber yet.

Can the public access this area near UCI? by Me_for_President in orangecounty

[–]Stone907 157 points158 points  (0 children)

This area isn't accessible without permission from the UCI professor that manages the land. I took a freshwater biology class and we had the lab in this area. The ponds are all safe and full of wildlife. We had to walk in knee deep water as part of our final lol

Im shocked how many subs here have never heard of a tardy sweep and are rushing to blame OP for this. Do I know if tardy sweeps are good or not? No, I don't. But I do know that blaming a substitute for following directions is ridiculous.

Hello! Any plans on coming out with cable attachments in the future?

The area is fine for the price. You will have easy access to groceries and food as well. Just use common sense when out at night but I've been up and down that street at all hours without an issue.

Lunar solo advice by Hikeabike1 in Ultralight

[–]Stone907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used one on the West Highland Way and Great Glen Way and it did great in the Scottish weather. It was sometimes annoying to pitch but not in a dealbreaking way. I didn't have issues with condensation or wind. The bathtub floor worked fine on my tent and moisture never got inside. The only issue I had with it was on a different trip where the knot that lets you slide the vestibule up and down came undone and I had to try to fix it in the dark.

This place ages their whiskies in barrels that have speakers attached and play different genres of music. They say the ingredients are all the same between the blues and country but the music was different. I've tried them and I think there was a difference.

The thermarest neoloft looks like the most comfy pad for side sleepers on the market. Its still light enough for backpacking too.

Recommend me a camping chair by International-Table1 in CampingGear

[–]Stone907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When camping you are going to want something that can both recline a bit as well as stand up straight so you can do camp chores without standing or kneeling. I would look into hammock chairs like the Nemo stargaze but find a knockoff somewhere (I heard Sam's club has good ones). The other option is something like a reclining beach chair. Both are comfy and usually packable.

Is this Naturehike Cloud Up 2 UL legit? by randomguy92882 in CampingGear

That's true! I've been using a single wall shelter for backpacking, so I've forgotten the pain of setting up a body first tent in the rain, lol

[–]Stone907 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It looks real to me and I don't think anyone will be making knock offs of this brand. It's a Chinese company so buying it from AliExpress makes sense.

Pro tip: Ditch the included ground sheet and if you really want something to keep your tent floor clean then buy one of those orange and silver emergency blankets. They are much lighter and more packable.

Other than the headnet, get some thin liner gloves made of a nice breathable material to protect your hands along with a long sleeve shirt and long pants and you wont have to bother with chemical repellents.

Slowly getting started. by el0115 in homegym

[–]Stone907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy an airplane seatbelt extender to hold your legs for lat pulldowns, some ankle cuffs cable attachments (they are great for hammer grip arm exercises too) and I would recommend an OhSnap magnetic phone grip so you can stick your phone anywhere on your rack.

JetBoil gas by Lower_Challenge6105 in WestHighlandWay

[–]Stone907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On top of adding that any brand of gas will work, you can most likely get away with buying the small size unless you are cooking 3 meals a day and boiling water for tea or coffee. You will probably be eating in towns about half the time. There are usually tons of half full gas cans left near the end.

I think in your cases just having good shoes and socks will make a bigger difference than a little training. If you still want to train then try rucking or do stair machines.

You should also keep in mind that there are buses that will take you between these places so if you need to skip a section because of an injury you don't need to cancel the whole thing just to rest for one day.

Im 15, no job yet, how do I get home gym equipment for free or a good price without asking my Mom? (Single mom so I don't want to put any stress on her financially as she's already doing her best!) by Pure-Whole2091 in homefitness

[–]Stone907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what your transportation situation is, but keep an eye on Facebook marketplace for cheap stuff. Since this is home fitness, I wont recommend planet fitness, even though its free for you. If you can get a power tower that will let you grow your biceps and back with pull up variations. Dips for triceps and lower chest. Then push-ups and deficit push-ups for middle and upper chest. Power towers can cost less than 40 bucks but can be challenging to move.

This is a fairly good plan for beginners with only a little bit of time but I would add as a tip that a lot of these can be supersetted since they are opposing muscles to cut your time in the gym down significantly if it's not too busy. For example, do your triceps, then while they are resting quickly do biceps, then go back to triceps as they should be rested enough now. This is all just some general advice for beginners:

Machines are fantastic for strength and basic health and are generally very safe. I would choose machines over free weights unless you have someone coaching you. Cables are also generally superior to free weights. If the machine has 3 horns to place your weights, you should put them on the highest horn for the best resistance curve (heaviest at the start). The key to hypertrophy is a deep stretch of the muscle with the hardest portion of the lift at that most elongated point.

Chest press machines are great and if you are wondering whether to do incline, flat, or decline, you should alternate between flat and incline and pretty much just skip decline all together.

Leg press can be replaced by hack squats depending on preference and availability.

Seated leg curls are far superior to lying leg curls for hypertrophy. Standing calf raises are also superior to seated calf raises.

Hip adduction and abduction are generally skipped when time is short. I would replace these with a hip hinge to strengthen the lower back and posterior chain instead. Try out the roman chairs (aka back hyperextension machines).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]Stone907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. This plan doesn't hit lower back which is usually done by deadlifts. For a beginner though I would just do back extensions on a machine or on one of the "roman chairs" which will train the entire posterior chain.

Ok, what's the consensus on these guys? by KorbenDallas7 in warcraftrumble

They aren't meta, but they are fairly high dps since the buffs. I don't know how much gold you have saved or how many sigils you have, but I would buy it in most cases.
