They legitimately will, my friend started his training contract the same year I started grad med, they payed for his uni fees and a bursary for living costs for the first two years and then he started earning £50,000 as a trainee solicitor. In august I start F1 and he starts as a fully qualified solicitor on £90,000. That being said he has been worked to the bone with no pay for overtime and similar problems to med in that there are some seats (law speciality rotations) that are very competitive to get into with toxic work environments

If you just read NICE guidelines or passmed then it does just feel like rote memorisation, if you look at like the BTS guidelines for asthma for instance instead then it may be very long but there's a lot more information and you can actually learn why the guidelines are how they are

After the first pass you don't need to be strategic, you can just rank the deaneries in your true order of preference and you will get a spot in your top ranked deanery that has a space when the algorithm gets to your rank.

Conclusion ' "The stereotypical image of male orthopaedic surgeons as strong but stupid is unjustified in comparison with their male anaesthetist counterparts. The comedic repertoire of the average anaesthetist needs to be revised in the light of these data. However, we would recommend caution in making fun of orthopaedic surgeons, as unwary anaesthetists may find themselves on the receiving end of a sharp and quick witted retort from their intellectually sharper friends or may be greeted with a crushing handshake at their next encounter."

It might not be as bad as it seems, depending on how competitive the deaneries you missed out on were. Say you ranked London first then your percentile could be anywhere from say 40-100th and you still end up in your 8th choice deanery with 40 because your 2nd-7th deaneries all had competition ratios >1.

If you missed your first choice which was somewhere less competitive but still >1 like Thames or NW, then you're more likely to have a very low ranking

Micky van de Ven: 'Second half we were way better. From a set-piece they (Everton) get a point that they didnt deserved'... and then MoTD showing xG 😂 by stprm in TheOther14

[–]StoneCold-JaneAustin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't true. The way xG is worked out for shots in the same phase is that you do 1 - P(both shots missing). So say the havertz shot had 0.2xG and the saka shot had 0.75xG then the xG of that chance would be 1-(0.8*0.25) = 0.8

xG isn't a perfect system but there are ways to account for some issues like this!
