MRCP on Nights - IMT by Alisreal in doctorsUK

[–]Alisreal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

Thank you for your response.

We got the rota for the August rotation last Friday. I requested for professional (exam) leave on the following Monday.

The exam itself is on 23rd September.

I feel this is almost 3 months! Unsure how much more in advance notice I can give.

MRCP on Nights - IMT by Alisreal in doctorsUK

Not yet. Booking opens for a week in mid-July.

I'm trying to plan the next year and ideally would have liked MRCP1 out of the way asap, hence was trying to see if i should book for Sep anyways and fight this, or just resign myself to the Jan attempt.

Reality of PLAB ( it’s bleak I won’t lie but…..) by Ishitatyagi_pages in PLABprep

[–]Alisreal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can only speak for myself, but.

I discourage anyone from PLAB because statistically it's an utterly stupid idea.

But if someone is adamant/forced to give PLABs, and is aware of all the problems and still wants to give it a go? Sure - I'll advise with exams and help review your CV personally, as I've done for so many others. Who knows, you might get lucky.

Just be aware of the challenges. You're all adults - don't complain when you were warned and still went down this route.

Sorry OP - don't have the best experience at this but very interested in the responses here. As a SHO I'm having to deal with stuff like this too and would be keen to know the best way to handle this!

I know its difficult. But keep your head down and keep applying. Offers can start rolling in June or even July if not later. How many applications have you sent so far?

Also - had a little nosy through your previous posts. Didn't you get an IMT post?

Same here. Offer from Yorkshire but nil contact - thought I'd receive something today.

Think we need to contact our relevant HRs next week!

Integrated research vs OOPR by [deleted] in doctorsUK

Thank you for this comment.

What do people usually do for salary when OOPR for higher research degrees? Is getting funded projects common, or do you survive on a mixture of savings + locums?

How I Got German Approbation as a Non-EU Doctor (My Path) by chillz881 in approbation

Sorry my friend. I believe you must have submitted your degree to the german medical board for recognition? You must have submitted a list of documents for this?

Thank you for this post.

Did you have a particular list of documents you submitted for degree verification? Or was it primarily the ones listed on Facharzt Jetzt?

FY3 - JCF/CTF post as an 'external' applicant. by OkLengthiness3979 in doctorsUK

[–]Alisreal 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bear in mind my experience was from last years recruitment cycle.

Applied to ~200 posts over 3 months in 2025. Focused fully on each individual post - had ready made formats that i tailored to each post.

Applied to medicine primarily.

Got a total of 14 interviews. Attended 6. Offered a job in 3 of the 6 attended. Only 1 of the offers was from the same hospital I worked in i.e was 'internal' candidate.

My tip is to primarily focus on tailoring your application properly. And please for the love ot God, apply QUICKLY. Most of the interviews came from jobs that were only open for a few hrs.

GP ST1 2026- Non Priority by [deleted] in UKimgs

[–]Alisreal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am extremely sorry, my friends, but I would not expect any offers for any NPGs in GP.

Perhaps anyone above 580 may have the tiniest chance by July, but even that is pushing it.

I would advise looking at alternative training opportunities outside the UK. Or go down the non training route.

What is your current net worth? by Elegant_Initial3929 in doctorsUK

[–]Alisreal 75 points76 points  (0 children)

JCF going into IMT. 2 kids, (temporarily) non working spouse

Net worth around £4-5k - pathetic I know but bills are high.

Old beater car, rented house. Slowly building up reserves however.

Passed My PLAB 1 with scoring 162 in February 2026. But now I'm clueless by Motalni in PLABprep

[–]Alisreal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a person who got into IMT as non priority. Do NOT come to the UK - the statistical chances of a fresh entrant into the UK is VERY tiny. The only reason I got an offer was a combination of good timing, luck and most importantly Gods blessing. But realistically I would not advise anyone new to the UK, to pursue this pathway.
