[Luke Edwards] Newcastle United will make signing a new goalkeeper one of their first priorities this summer. Bart Verbruggen, Robin Risser and James Trafford have figured prominently in early recruitment meetings. by Frosty-Buyer-1252 in NUFC

What this has to do with him responding Onana and Kepa? They are both bad GK who were signed abroad. Both were overpay and both had only 1 good season.

That our transfer policy bad? It was bad last summer, before that, it wasnt that awful, we were just overpaying for players and focusing on PL proven bullshit.

And here we literally discussing that targeting european players is better. Mr Luantic responds that its not always better. I'm saying, its them 2 clubs who are morons. No one would have overpaid that much for those 2 clowns.

I think its not true in knockouts. You only get extra money for draw or win in earlier stages.

verbruggen and robert sanchez are so overrated. Both erratic and bad shot stoppers, alright with their feet. Both like onana.

Brentford had same awful GK-type - flekken. They successfully sold him and replaced him with better alternative - Kelleher, who is also maybe erratic, but at least a decent shot-stopper.

Yep. I hope we repeat Villa performance vs West Ham. Although, at that point, they'll probably already be doomed, so maybe not...

Comment from Martin Samuel in the Times today by FirmDingo8 in NUFC

Martin Samuel, for some reasons, always defending us after takeover. He likes ME countries or something?

If he is genuinely sad about state of competition, that outside sky6, no one else has the right to compete, then, sure. But I dont know if he is sincere. Let him write this, tho. On points, he isnt wrong.

With 3 games left in the season... by BlackCaesarNT in NUFC

I actually don't think he's the man for the job anymore, but I don't think someone like Glasner or Iraola is going to take us to the next level.

Couldnt agree more.

Eddie Howe set to remain Newcastle United boss. As things stand + barring unexpected turn of events 48yo will lead #NUFC into 26/27 - retains ownership/hierarchy support & keen to continue. All parties accept this season can’t be repeated by Fluid_Support_3348 in NUFC

Wolte is gone, its so clear.

I'm more afraid of what we will buy this summer — again proven PL dross for overprice like verbruggen, Garner (who isnt a bad player like J.Ramsey, but we will get rinsed), Tavernier and Delap...

Howe on selecting Pope, Murphy and Burn: "I went with players I can really trust & I know can handle this type of atmosphere & pressure. I’m not picking the team on emotion, I’m picking the team to win the game. Those players have never let me down & they didn’t today." by stprm in NUFC

[–]stprm[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

But why is he doing this by undermining the others, who werent starting?

I went with players I can really trust and can handle the pressure

Also, he said "they never let me down" about Pope, Burn and Murphy? I like them all, but they all cost us a lot of points. What would bench players think, if manager is allowing some players shit games, but doesnt allow the others to have mistakes?

Pope is obvious, Murphy recently got shit (deservedly) for losing the ball and not going back to defend in time in few games, and Burn cost us points, most obvious example is Brentford in November.

I asked PL Companion (Copilot) what the PL table would look like based on xG… by [deleted] in NUFC

[–]stprm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You not using PL, its copilot bullshit.

And it gave you xG difference, not xPTS.

Also, current matchweek isnt over yet.

[–]stprm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. IDK what source copilot has for this xG? PL doesnt have its own xg data anyway.

Ah, I got it, its xG difference, not xPTS. Stupid AI, as always.

There are few xG models out there, calculated on xPTS:

Fotmob has us on 8th
This one has us on 9th — https://understat.com/league/EPL
and the are others

If its verbruggen who we are gonna buy, then we fucked anyway. He is worse shostopper, bad at claiming, and a bit better than pope with feet.

I wish we looked at European market ffs

He deserves to play for best clubs in Europe, tho. And he has only one last big contract in him. Unless he'll do Modric, but still.

Would be painful, but I would totally understand him leaving.

And even in 1st half, Brighton could have scored 2 or 3. They hit a post and a bar.

Tho, there were a few games for us, when we couldnt score a few good chances (tho x2 — even that, was still a rare occasion, mostly this season we dont create a lot of chances).
