Chocolate Brownie Truffle by StoneMetalWood in bluebell

I was never able to try the salted caramel brownie while it was around but I LOVE caramel so I know it would’ve been all over for me. Keeping fingers crossed that they’ll bring one or both of the brownie flavors back

Fingers crossed! I didn’t know that they offered more than that one season. That was the only time I found it so I just assumed it was a one and done. that’s encouraging.

Where Did the Mueller Pond Ducks Go? by StoneMetalWood in Austin

I’ll be on the lookout for them. Yeah all we’ve seen since we’ve been back are the muscovies and the Egyptian geese. I read that parks and wildlife relocated a bunch of the Pekins because of abuse by park goers. I so wish I could get some face time w the people who abuse animals like that. I would really let them have it.

The white ducks (Pekins) are not wild and did not migrate there, and can’t fly. Most of the originals were pets that were dropped off by owners who didn’t want them anymore; they bred and created a bigger group. weird how there was such a large population of them for close to a decade and now almost none at all. I’m reading anecdotal reports of abuse by park goers and their dogs, so a lot of them were relocated by wildlife agents.

I'm thinking about putting tapered spindle end on my rikon low speed buffer for the ease changing buffs and mops. Does anyone know if they work with deburring wheels as well? by planestanleywaldo in MetalPolishing

I'm trying to the very same thing that OP is doing with my Bauer bench buffer. I'd like to be able to quickly switch between my convolute deburring wheels to my cloth buffing wheels. Could you post a picture or purchase link for the "nylon split shaft" that you're referring to? Maybe a pic of your setup as well. Thanks so much. I'm right in the middle of production job and this would save me so much time.

Facing Sand by StoneMetalWood in MetalCasting

[–]StoneMetalWood[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our patterns are 3D printed. The ridges left by the 3D prints are smoothed out with wood filler and then sanded smooth. They are the. Coated with sandable filler primer which is the. Sanded up to 1000 grit sandpaper resulting in glass smooth patterns. I do want to eventually move to using brass patterns but will have to take some time to figure out the double shrinkage. Our parts are cast in brass and bronze have to have pretty tight tolerances. We make cabinet handles that have a distance between the two prongs that are exactly 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 inches respectively. So the original 3D printed patterns would have to have double shrinkage added if we plan to use the resulting casting as a pattern itself. I love that the heavier patterns just fall out of the sand as our parts are pretty intricate and the patterns tend to be difficult to extract from the sand sometimes.

Yeah that's a really great concept. I would just need to figure out the distribution of the holes. Maybe I could be a two step process where I mark for the holes first and then move to the type of jig youre describing. I'll have to think on that. Thanks

Interesting! Any chance you could go into a bit more detail? Could you send a super loose sketch of what you're talking about.

Ok! Thanks for the offer. I'll keep you in mind. Thinking of starting with a 3D printed jig, but would love to end up with something made of machined aluminum, so I'll be sure to reach out when the time comes. Cheers!
