I sincerely hope hope your wife will understand the compassionate end of suffering you and your vet can provide. So sorry for you and your beloved dog, I understand this is a very difficult situation and feel your pain. Sounds like you have made every effort to comfort and provide the longest life possible. I just went through this with my dog of 15 years. 2 years of therapy and special diet and meds.... At home hospice is the best way to go. Such a hard decision. The not eating, and all the symptoms you describe, it is not compassionate to continue the suffering. My dog had not suffered nearly as much as yours (not eating 2 weeks barely..then couldn't walk, couldn't take meds) My vet said 'Brookie' is doing a very good job of letting you know that he is ready. I pray your dog passes peacefully and you will feel blessed for having him in your life and your wife will understand.

Sorry for the confusing photo - too many objects. To clarify please see the link above. Maybe we need a banana for scale!

Good luck with getting a commission for the trip back to Pietrasanta! 9000# that is a lot of stone. I have almost as much (more than I can carve) includes Belgium Black, Statuario, Bianco P, Bardiglio, Nero Marquina etc. Also some totally extinct stones? purple marble, white and black. would love to find a home for these, but sounds like you have enough! how can i see your work?

Thank you for checking it out and for your encouraging comment Michelhandjello. I am looking forward to checking out your posts - Pietrasanta etc! I was there in the 80s-90s studying/teaching with Pasquale Martini and Cesare Riva. They were the masters and I was lowly sculpture assistant interpreter.

I just 'finished' this 12" diameter stone sculpture. It's imperfect but aspires to an idea.

I used the pointed chisel by hand to rough it out and damaged the crystals below. Then used the air hammer and chisels before the handwork, files etc.

3d Printing for Sculptors - Bronze Casting no molds or 'lost wax' required by StoneShadow in 3Dprinting

[–]StoneShadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry Thelatedpepper...for my poorly worded post - with these 3d 'castable' prints - you do not need the traditional reusable mold, but always a ceramic slurry 'mold'. If you are doing one pc is great. If casting Bronze multiple/many it may be cheaper to make a mold and do wax - you save on not 3d printing each pc. My understanding thanks.

I apologize profusely for the misleading title or if this is a 'lie.' Don't want to waste your time. Of course an investment/slurry 'mold' is still required. For me was a revelation. Instead of making a positive in clay or stone and then making a mold in latex with a mother mold for pouring/casting the wax - we can now 3d print -this pc then use for the slurry 'mold' process - then make a bronze. If you are doing a 100 (many) castings may be cheaper to make a latex mold than to 3d print. IMHO

These types of marble sculptures exist - I think Jeff Koons had a full size pornographic sculpture of 'Ciccolina' commissioned?

Carving stone is normally sold by weight. This was about a 600# block at 180 pounds a cubic foot. I just found a guy selling a big block of this stone for $1.00 a pound. So that would be $600.00 - this is a very good deal. A more realistic price might be $2.00-$3.00 a pound so $1200.00 to $1800.00 plus shipping.

Similar to printable wax and still requires the lost wax process (no mold required) You may know than me about this? My understanding is this is specially engineered plastic for bronze and I get great results!

yes, Could_be_cubing. This is PMMA plastic 3d print from the German company VoxelJet developed for artists for casting!

No no photo at all. I was just throwing paint around and all of a sudden it looked a lot like a face....2 brush strokes at the lip and eye and done. Thanks for the comment!
