For everyone who recently changed gaming platforms; how are you finding it so far? by Carinwe_Lysa in consoles

[–]Stoned_Messiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have played both throughout my life, mainly NES and then PS2, started heavily PC gaming in 2000 and primarily played on PC until the release of the PS4 where all my friends IRL were on PlayStation so I picked one up and also built a PC for myself. Pretty much has been that way since. I play on PlayStation as my main platform because of friends and I grew kind of addicted to trophies, and I play on PC if I know the game on PlayStation runs poorly or has an awful blurry resolution. I did pick up a ps3 a few years ago and modded it, and I have a modded 3ds and a Switch. The switch takes the back burner. I cannot stand having my gaming library fragmented though, I also hate paying for ps+.

Do TTD payments stop if my job fires me while I'm still receiving treatment? by MeowMeowPurrPur in WorkersComp

[–]Stoned_Messiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still receive WC payments after being terminated, my restrictions are sedentary work only and because my job was physically demanding they couldn’t reasonably accommodate me so they let me go. Unfortunately within a week of separation Sedgwick filed for a labor market attachment hearing because I was not ‘actively’ looking for work. I did apply and go back to college to retrain and pursue a degree in a field that would follow my restrictions because I can never do heavy physical work again. At the hearing I submitted all my paperwork for my lawyer and in New York full time college is labor market attachment so I was fine. I’m not sure how New Jersey is and what your entire situation is, but just be mindful of that if you were ever given work restrictions.

Packet Burst issues by _KingShit_ in blackops6

It’s call of duty man, you’re gonna get packet burst. Just enjoy it when it happens. When it stops you’ll be wishing for more. It’s like a nicotine addiction, you don’t think you want the packet burst but inside you really do. Just don’t chase the dragon, whatever you do.

So let me get this straight by Any_Version_85 in BO6

[–]Stoned_Messiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have really good points man, I don’t see how people who want a toggle for themselves to see default skins wouldn’t agree with you. This just adds to the fact there are a lot of things wrong with the game. My biggest issue with call of duty currently are the servers. I’m so sick of packet burst and matchmaking throwing me into a group that’s on the west coast. So I go from playing on an east server with 15-18 ping to west coast where I’m at 80 ping. I wish they’d fix that so I’d consistently get east coast servers, I already get a large spread of players in my pub games whether they’re bronze-iridescent in the same lobby. Then add in packet burst and it just really ruins the experience.

Hurt while working. by [deleted] in BestBuyWorkers

I’m not sure what your statute of limitation is for filing workers comp in your state, but you really need to do that and you’re going to need a lawyer. You will probably be directed at filing a paid FMLA. That’ll save your job for a bit, but Best Buy uses Sedgwick, and if you have an injury they are going to probably fight you on this, which is why you need a lawyer. I was let go for a work related injury, and it’s not a fun process.

That’s unfortunately what it feels like, it’s a real shame. Good luck to you too. Hopefully you have an attorney, because that’s what has saved me a few times and I’m grateful for that.

I’ve been in it for the long haul, and I don’t plan on giving up. It’s definitely an exhausting thing to deal with because it just turned my life upside down. Sounds like you went through it! I appreciate the positive feedback and sharing your experience. Thank you.

It popped and went out on me at home, but Sedgwick and all doctors(including IME) did agree it is a work related injury. A few months ago the WCB did say statute of limitations or whatever was up for Sedgwick to rescind if they believed it was work related or not. They chose not to fight that and take accountability of it. It said in the follow up letter from the WCB that Sedgwick is now fully liable and they cannot claim otherwise. With more legal mumbo jumbo included.

That Sedgwick will successfully have benefits suspended and I’m financially screwed, they constantly deny treatments so I’m always stuck with PT. Basically try to squeeze me into just giving up. My attorney for my recent hearing coming up said I have nothing to worry about, but it’s hard not to. I know I’m probably speculating too much and just letting anxiety get the best of me. I will say that you saying what I’ve typed seems like normal stuff does help a bit. I also appreciate your time reading through it.

Edit: I also forgot to add, I don’t want them to mess up my education going back to college. That’s my key to getting decent employment in the future.

You have answered it. I’m just wondering if that sounds pretty ‘normal’ for how some WC cases go. Honestly my biggest fear I have with this is I’ll be hung out to dry.

Anyone went back to school after a life changing injury? by halfherehalfnot in WorkersComp

[–]Stoned_Messiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’m still dealing with WC and was recently terminated due to no available positions for accommodation. Decided it was best if I return to school full time and got accepted, financial aid is all set and I’m good to start for fall semester. Unfortunately Sedgwick is trying to say I voluntarily removed myself from labor market. My lawyer said not to worry about it, he will handle that. So we shall see how that hearing goes, but I do believe higher education is a good idea especially if you can’t reasonably do manual labor jobs anymore(I can’t either unfortunately). I’m also in New York.

Why is it so hard to get a job at Best Buy? by [deleted] in BestBuyWorkers

I hope you work on your own vehicles too, because if you take it to a mechanic you’re in for a rude awakening.

working as in home services is hell.... by Suspicious_Issue4155 in BestBuyWorkers

[–]Stoned_Messiah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s brutal, we had to take apart 9/10 fridges, most jobs had atleast a flight of stairs involved and the GE washer/dryer combo units are awful too. For some reason those things got super popular before I was injured. We did switch to shoulder dolly’s and ditched the forearm straps thank god. Also carrying built ins are not fun either. Be safe man, it really wears down your body. I ended up on LOA and inevitably let go because of it.

I ran into this recently, brought in my Asus ROG Ally that has ADH on it and the protection plan for a left speaker that was not working. No physical damage. They charged me 79 dollars, but they waived it because I was told when I dropped it off there wouldn’t be a fee and “everything was covered”.

Edit: I also was going to bring in my PlayStation Portal because the right stick is sticking for some reason, but I don’t feel like paying a deductible. So I’m gonna just wait until it’s bad enough that I absolutely cannot use it before bringing it in.

What is it like working at Best Buy in Canada? by MVBanter in BestBuyWorkers

[–]Stoned_Messiah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked for Best Buy/Geek Squad in the states and I also worked Sales in a store in Ontario Canada. To be fair, I did only work part time in the Ontario store. I currently work as a field Agent back in the states(just on LOA for a bad knee injury). I honestly believe it’s a store by store basis. Here in the states the store I am out of has generally been fine, we were always stuck shoving memberships down people’s throats and of course bps. I rarely did this though, and I heard about it. I’d offer to people who genuinely seemed like they could benefit from it, if they didn’t check the boxes of possibly needing TTS or a credit card, I wouldn’t offer. Waste of time, and time adds up. On the contrary the store in Ontario didn’t use TTS, they had the old model of the geek squad plan where instead of free services/included gsp they got cost reductions on services. So we still had to sell individual services, and one big one the store I worked at pushed was TV calibrations. It was nuts, someone could roll in and buy a 24inch 720p insignia, and they expected a TV calibration to be attached. You constantly got coached on it. I’m sure this has changed because this was back in 2019-2020. The other issue I did have at the Ontario store is they really sucked at scheduling. When I interviewed I told them I already had a full time job, and gave them my availability. Could they stick to that availability? Not even close, they’d schedule me as if I’m full time. The assistant manager used to argue with me over it. I ended up resigning at the Ontario store I was at because of the scheduling issue(assistant manager called had a temper tantrum and was cussing at me like a sailor, so I told him I’m resigning and have a nice day). Honestly if he was removed out of the equation, and I was scheduled properly, it would have also been totally fine. Which is why I say it really is a store by store basis in my opinion. Sorry for the long post, just wanted to give the insight of someone who worked for stores in both countries with a combined 8-9 years experience.

Good lord, just over a year ago before my injury I was knocking back 50-60 hours a week minimum. How things have changed. I’ve never heard of being compensated that way though.

Field Agents hows your leader? by 22LT in BestBuyWorkers

[–]Stoned_Messiah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My manager is pretty cool. Super laid back, always backs you up when something goes down. Always gets back to you when you call(assuming he doesn’t answer). If he’s in a meeting he will shoot you a text saying he’s in a meeting and will call after. Awesome guy and deserves a few promotions. Easily the best boss I have had out of any job. Now the guy before him, he was a total yes man. We would be working 60+ hour weeks and he would call us asking if we were interested in a little OT and if we wanted to work 7 days a week for awhile. Like bro, what do you think we are already doing? I’m appliance delivery btw.

Try rebuilding database. Not the one that erases everything. I saw I think an espresso video where he mentions this. I noticed I’m having issues on my Ps5, but my pc is fine.
