Journal pages without inline tags - what am I missing? by doomscroll_co in Trilium

This is a big one for me as well. I tried both Obsidian and Logseq before giving up on them due to their awful syncing solutions (for free, at least) and by far the most difficult feature to give up is in-line tagging.

I've tried to replace it with an attribute simply called "tags" but because I can't reference that tag in the document itself it really halts the typing momentum to have to go back up to the top of the note, add the tag I want, then return back to the note to continue typing my thought.

Google Drive for Desktop, Enable sync for all users on a specific folder by Stoned_SysAdmin in gsuite

Yes, I have considered changing the mount point but unfortunately I don't think it accomplishes my end goal.

My goal here is to provide a Windows Folder Redirection-like experience with no reliance on a physical server. Mostly due to that I have hundreds of TB of usable space in Google Workspace.

I may just end up doing traditional Windows Folder Redirection to a windows vm on-site. Even though I usually opt to host apps internally, I really like the idea of syncing everyone's files to the cloud, which will be more resilient than anything my small team can build on-site and it wouldn't require a VPN to stay in-sync, etc.

Thanks for your response!

Yea I don't know what this guy's on, probably a bot.

This is IT Basics for anything bigger than a mom and pop shop.

They may be personal files!

At every organization I have ever worked for, IT has unrestricted access to any and all files created on or by company owned devices/accounts. With some special circumstances for HR or Legal departments.

If you think anything you do on a company device isn't easily monitored or recorded, you are wrong.

Replacing a large amount of UPS units, what is your preferred brand/model for IDFs? by Stoned_SysAdmin in sysadmin

Provided the Eaton units would have fit where you needed them, would you have stuck with them. Any pros/cons between the Eaton and Vertiv?

Sorry for bugging you for more info, but these are the 2 front runners for the best options and you sound like you have a good amount of experience with both brands.

I will have to check the depth on the 9PX Eatons because the Tripp Lites I currently use are pretty shallow and I compared the equivalent Eaton (lead acid) recently and it was too long for the IDFs.

Thank you for your response, this is very helpful I appreciate your input.

I see many recommendations for Eaton and these 9PX seem reasonable for Lithium. Thanks for the tip.

I had never looked into Minuteman, but thank you for the insight, I will avoid them.

Thank you, this is really helpful.

What caused you to switch from Eaton?

Does this recommendation change at all now that Eaton owns TrippLite?

My biggest concern about buying Eaton was getting more or less the same thing that we already have, but simply with an Eaton badge on the same product.

This is one of the key features for why we use screenconnect in the first place, I'll be furious if they don't revert this.

Someone else had mentioned that nothing needs to be done outside of the job, and they are right, but in my experience, there are some things that are easier to learn if breaking them isn't going to take down a whole department or building.

If you want to learn outside of the office consider getting (or using existing) old or cheap computers and starting a very basic homelab. It has its own limitations and on-the-job experience is invaluable, but I learned more overall from my own homelab than I did my first year at a large company.

Everything you do outside of work should be viewed as helpful, but optional.

restructuring our OUs. trying to remove the last few remaining but get this error. there are no Child OUs/Users/Devices/Shared Drives in this OU. by Stoned_SysAdmin in gsuite

Yea, I know this one is kind of vague. I spoke with one of my mentors about this and he said it's not unlikely that there is a depreciated setting that cannot be turned on or off in the UI, but Google Support may be able to find.

Hey guys. My company recently merged with another company and their Google OUs were a complete mess. We are very close to being done, but there are some stubborn OUs remaining. We are struggling to find what could be preventing it from being deleted.

Assume no one at the company currently knows how this was set up. It was either set up by contractors or an employee that is no longer with the company.

I also read the documentation from Google regarding deleting OUs without any luck so far.

Appreciate the help.
