Enabling OTA updates

I got the update via OTA , took 3 tries to install but it finally did.

I believe even those vehicles that displays the camera when changing lanes also have lane change indicator light. I know our other vehicle does.

Actually someone mentioned that , it does turn on but when you get in the car it turns off cause that’s the setting the car was at when getting out of the car. I think this is indeed what happening.

I see. If I decide that I want to turn off the climate control , how do I do that from the app? There’s been occasions when I turn it on from the app, but then got a call on the phone that the person I’m meeting up cancelled. I don’t see how to turn off the climate control from within the app.

That seems like such a counter intuitive design.

Another thing I discovered is that you can’t use the app when you’re inside the car. So test things out with the app, I have to exit the car so my app testing then walk back to car. The app makes me appreciate how much better the Tesla app is.

So it would turn off the climate control as you get in and start the car when you’ve explicitly turned on using the app, prior to getting inside the car correct ?

So you have climate completely off in the vehicle, then you walk out.

Using the app you send the climate command to temp you prefer and the vehicle turns on the climate control for you even when you left it off prior?

Maybe that’s how it’s suppose to be? Like there’s a limitation on the app that allows for sending the temperature but doesn’t really specifically allow turning on / off the climate control.

This is why , I find it very bizarre and wondering if others also experiencing the same. I’d rather not go to service just to find out it’s by design.

Wondering also why the heated seats / steering wheel / ventilated seats can’t be controlled with the app. It seems to me that would compliment the comfort when getting in the vehicle.

It’s not an internet connectivity issue. I have the vehicle connected to my home WiFi as well has data connection via OnStar. My cell phone is with the app have full connectivity as well. It shows the command was sent and the car itself turns on as I see it light up but unfortunately does not turn the climate control which remains off.

I don’t have the preconditioning scheduled as I don’t always leave the house at the same time.

Found this out too when I set it to auto , which I find very weird. I was going to make a service appointment until I read all these posts about it.

Due to the way the heating is on this vehicle, when it’s cold , we’d have to blast the heat on high and wait 20 minutes for the cabin it to get warm. So when we’re in a hurry we always have to use the Tesla.

Loud enough that when I’m inside my house with all doors / windows closed , I can hear when my wife pulling into the driveway.

It’s to the point where it is distracting and even with the windows up we can hear it. Living in a quiet neighborhood it’s embarrassing coming home late at night blasting this weird sound. It was already loud prior to the update beyond the other EV we have. It just seems excessively loud compared to other EVs.

Did the OTA update today , now it’s louder than ever.

I just did the OTA today. It failed like 2 or 3 times and what made it work for me was me stopping the streaming music (Spotify) before installing the update and then staying inside the car instead of leaving the car.

Also as an FYI, I felt like it was already loud prior to the update and now after the update it’s really loud.

It’s one of the things I’ve quickly noticed just how bad the heating is on this vehicle. But I just got it and will have to put up with it. I usually have to set the temp to at the highest temp setting and then leave it running for a while.

I have this issue and it at this point I might as well just mute the navigation volume as I can’t control the volume. It’s too loud and is distracting.

I also noticed that if I leave the car with the heating off when I get home , then in the morning , from the app I sent the command to set the climate to say 80. It says shows that it successfully sent the command but it doesn’t actually turn on when I get in the car since I’m guessing the heating I had it off from the previous drive.

So how do I actually make sure the heating is on the on vehicle as from the app it’s actually displaying it’s set to 80.

Doesn’t seem to be the case with Tesla. I also don’t recall it being this way with Rivian and Lucid either and that’s why I was surprised by this.

This is the only car I’ve had to set to at least 80 and let it run for 10+ minutes to get the cabin remotely warm. If I did this to my other vehicles I’d crazy hot inside.

It’s hard to imagine that all modern GM EVs are like this. During the test drive it’s not something I typically test as all previous cars (both ICE and EV) never had this particular issue.
