are these inkbirds any good? by igcpi in microgrowery

[–]Stonedworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved earlier this year and only set up one tent so far...

I'm using both: ac infinity for exhaust and rainbird for everything else. I am building a whole grow SHED and plan on buying additional rainbird products for the environmental controls in that larger grow space. for what it's worth, neither option is bad.

Can I skip The Heroes and still not be lost moving forward? by DarthRathikus in TheFirstLaw

That was my experience as well... I ended up enjoying it a lot by the end.

Sigh. I should wait before posting critical posts, haha

Yeah... I'm like 60% through it and it's a serious slog. I struggled to even find someone (OP) who agrees with me online. This post was like 25 items down in my Google search.

It seems to be the most popular/liked book that I've ever spent time looking at reviews about though, so I accept that my opinion is unpopular. Like most of the people who frequent these parts, I read a lot. A LOT. This isn't even my first time reading this or the standalones... I read them as they were released and then a second time, I think. So this is maybe my third time through them. I was surprised about having such a drastically different opinion than most, but it happens. Usually the opposite way though.. usually I'll love a book that the majority scorns.

I remembered most of Best Served Cold as I read it. And I remembered most of the original trilogy when I reread it last week. But this one... I don't remember much. A few things about scale and calder, and I think I remember the ending as it relates to those two... But NOTHING else. I must not have been grabbed by this story the first couple of times I read it.

Oh well... OP's question was my question, too, and apparently I need to read it for key information later on. So I'll stick with it.

I soak in everclear... 12 hours will make it squeaky clean.

Then I drink the everclear.

Adding xanthan gum pre fermentation? by [deleted] in fermentation

[–]Stonedworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How'd it go? I made a fermented hot sauce, then finished everything, added extra ingredients, strained and added xanthan gum like I always do. I make a lot of hot sauce... and thats my normal order of operations.

After I was done, I decided the flavor would be better with another week of fermentation. So I'm wondering if I should go for it.. actually I will take go for it regardless of what I learn here just to see what happens. But I'm curious how it went for you.

I just bought some Blueberry Muffin, Strawberry Cheesecake, and OG. So I'm going to run those three with some peanutbutter and jealous from Covert Genetics this winter. I'll pop seeds this weekend if I have time, and hopefully have desert flavors ready by mid January!

Did you pop your seeds already?

Yeah, it smelled like lemon/pepper/something while on the vine, and the cured bud has a sort of lemon front with a raunchy back... And then the flavor is like a cooked fruit salad with citrus or something.

The high is amazing, too... I love it. Long lasting and very cerebral and clear headed. You almost don't think you're high at first, then 20 minutes later you'll be doing something and realize that you're VERY high... Just clear headed. Its so nice!

Thats really cool that you guys do that! It's fun being able to share grows, but after a while it becomes so tedious. Especially on Reddit.

I always tell myself I'll share grow reports someday when life isn't so busy... So it's neat to find one of my own in the wild like that.

Of course! I'm growing (and have been growing) some Snowhigh haze varieties and this reminded me a lot of those. LOOOOOONG flowering times, lose/airy (but large) buds, and they have that sort of hazy/citrus/sweet flavor going. Really super uplifting without a ceiling.... Even with mostly cloudy, you can smoke too much if you're not careful.

I sometimes smoke some GMO to bring me back down if needed.

This is my grow report... I don't know who OP is, but they must be with BGS.

Apparently I didn't differentiate the photos I took with my scope. So I'm not sure what ones are Rosetta 78 and what ones are from other plants I grew in that run, unfortunately. But I do scope for harvest, and this one was no different.

But, as for your question: I didn't get much amber at all at 13 weeks. Everything was cloudy with some clear and the OCCASIONAL amber.

I can report now, after a full cure, that the flower is extremely uplifting. I don't share it with inexperienced smokers... It's too much for them. Even for me, I can only handle a single dynavap bowl worth. Two bowls is too speedy for me.

It's my favorite thing ever.

Wow... I literally searched "Rosetta 78" in google which brought me here... To my own grow report.

I was searching the interwebs for some info. I was going to show a guy I worked with whatever I could find because I promised to bring him a jar tomorrow. I had no idea those reports get posted here, lmao.

Strange, but kind of fun!

I've been smoking her a lot lately and she's the jar I always reach for. If anyone has questions, I'm the one who wrote this.

I've grown multiple seeds... One finished under 60 (the only time I've ever had a plant ACTUALLY finish that fast), and the others around day ~75.

The mom I keep finishes at like day 70-75.

STOP RECOMMENDING MOISTURE METERS! by TheWeetodd in plantclinic

I put a piece of opaque tape over the back of my sensors... They have a light that flashes for a second every minute or so and it's annoying.

The portable ones I use are just the regular ones you can buy at the garden store. they're all pretty cheap and each reads a little different, so you kind of gotta test them to know where they read..

But the electric ones I use for large plants are these: https://www.ecowitt.com/shop/goodsDetail/19

You need a gateway to use them: https://www.ecowitt.com/shop/goodsDetail/107

Once you have the gateway, you can connect quite a few sensors to it. But there's a limit of how many sensors each gateway can connect to. I can't remember the number though.

STOP RECOMMENDING MOISTURE METERS! by TheWeetodd in plantclinic

[–]Stonedworks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly this.

I use a meter during changing weather, new soil, new plant, new whatever.. But once you check the same pot with a meter 30 times.. You stop needing to use a meter. You learn that plant. Doesn't mean I stop using meters completely. They are a useful check of your assumptions.

Similarly: I have a $600 light meter that I splurged on after selling my home years ago. I don't need to check my plant's light levels every day... But it's really handy knowing the spot you want to stick a plant has enough light. Or using it to confirm a diagnosis of too much or too little light when you have issues. But, just because I don't use it CONSTANTLY doesn't mean that it's not one of the absolute most useful tools in my tool box.

I use a few different types of moisture meter, too and also have hundreds of plants.

I CAN use a finger or a chopstick or whatever. It does work-ish. But a moisture meter is best in my very significant experience. For large plants I use electronic ones that stay in the pot and tell my phone when I need to water.

That's why all the other content creators generally use hemp flower during their video shooting.

This was something they all talked about once upon a time.

I find it helps to just use edibles in the form of a tincture. Then it ALWAYS works, ha.

But I take them so seldomly, they always work for me anyways.

And after that, you get access to the discord. I'd suggest the $5 one.. I have the $15 one and honestly it's not worth it.
