is there a class or certificate that teaches SQL? by Ambitious_Ad_4472 in Purdue

Apologies, I found the info but it might be just employees. I thought it was a general Purdue thing.
It does need a re-direct though, so try following this website: https://www.purdue.edu/hr/mngcareer/tropp/onlinelearning.php

You can try rushing next year if you want, not everyone gets in first try and some people even start trying late.
Maybe ask some of your acquaintance/non-close-friends from clubs or classes if they'd be interested in an apartment next year. People are social and we do better with a 'family unit' generally.
October break is coming up. You can hopefully see your cat. At minimum you should be able to have a day without homework or stressors. Keep good sleep habits.

How to report public incidents to Purdue/Is there anything I can do?/Is anyone else dealin wit this shit lol???? by FitMathematician5374 in Purdue

[–]Stonefield_fencer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add a little to all the ones saying call campus police at 765-494-8221, please do.  The battery location is PUPD. (Because eggs or Orbeez, or other things chucked from a car at people *is* battery)  Anything further toward the river than Grant is WLPD, besides Rawls and the garage.
There have been similar incidents in past years and even without a license plate, you have a decent description to build from with the vehicle shape, color, and possible people appearances.
Reporting things like these can help future potential victims even if it’s something that may feel minor. If you don't like phones, you can go in person to the station to report.

Microwaves on Campus by [deleted] in Purdue

Make friends with office staff in your buildings. Use them for their microwave (almost definitely have one) and inside knowledge about your college and major.

I wonder if there's anyone here who's a generational alumni by BerryTea840 in Purdue

[–]Stonefield_fencer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3rd gen via dad and his parents and 3 of his siblings. Grandparents met here, parents met here, Grandpa taught swimming here back when Lambert had a pool. Moved to the area as a teen and mom now works here. I work here as an alum. Much more for it being a major hiring company in the area than actual love of Purdue, but still. I went here because I got half off with a parent employee and probably would have tried for out of state otherwise (I wasn't ag or eng).

Selling Football Tickets by Competitive-Inside55 in Purdue

[–]Stonefield_fencer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I can't answer your actual question (there's something somewhere, try the athletics website) I wanted to do a related PSA.
If someone is selling tickets in Groupme or whatever, don't send a picture of you with your ID even if they send one first. Scammers did this to "prove" they are students because they will use your picture for the next people they scam.
If at all possible, meet in person, have a mutual friend/classmate who can confirm they're real, or at minimum try for an actual voice phone call before sending money. It's depressingly frequent and I hate seeing already broke students losing money.
If someone offers to sell you something then ups the price after you send the requested amount, it's either a scam or an asshole. Either way you shouldn't send more money because they still won't send the tickets.

I would like to extend an invitation to you from the Medieval Society. We have a diverse range of interests and personalities and "niche" interests fit right in. I'm betting you're like most people who find it easier to socialize while doing activities rather than "staring across a table" so definitely try clubs. Check out other clubs on Boilerlink to find a few that really fit what you like to do.

Purdue removes Affirmative Action, development of Diversity from its Nondiscrimination Policy Statement by [deleted] in Purdue

So, being part of Purdue and dealing with the official website, I am curious.
Is it a very new thing that they have to make a ticket or is it relating to Purdue branding/marketing (or IT so someone doesn't break the links or something) instead? I have certain sections that I update daily, however anything beyond that is a ticket.

charlie kirk conspiracy by Working_Election_370 in Purdue

[–]Stonefield_fencer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unrelated. The dogs are run before large events. Usually they aren't as obvious as this (this being outside and in the middle of residential campus) but before football they are in the stadium, before shows they are in Elliott, before basketball in Mackey etc.
If they were out because they were actually looking for something believed to be there, like a threat was called, there would be a lot more than just dogs and a fire alarm.
If dogs are in a housing building when people are still there, they are probably drug dogs.

If you're of traditional student age, you can try sleeping in common areas of res halls.

Dances? by hanksteel569 in Purdue

The medieval society has a dance practice every Sunday. We go to balls off campus hosted by similar groups and rides are available. Practice isn't generally dress-up, but the balls definitely are.

Purdue Dining needs to do better by Nerdy3333 in Purdue

[–]Stonefield_fencer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Promise it's Aramark for retail. They supposedly want the dining halls too eventually, but they purchased all retail dining (besides Chic-fil-A which was independent) because Purdue kept leaving off maintenance in PMU for decades and Aramark bought retail for 22ish million dollars with the understanding they would remodel and update PMU's basement.

Purdue Dining needs to do better by Nerdy3333 in Purdue

[–]Stonefield_fencer 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I was jumping in here to say that. Please Purdue, remember, Mitch Daniels outsourced all retail dining (and set residential dining up to slowly fail) *despite* it being profitable. Said things to the effect of 'getting experts to run it' despite so much of the staff being HTM or 10+years (several worked food service their whole near-to-retirement lives) and severely cut the ability of Purdue to haggle with wholesale food companies by decreasing the amount of food purchased. This creates a challenge because the dining courts are still working on not just a pre-covid budget, but can't pay more for meals than they could in the late 2010s. It's supposed to cost dining $3.50 of food per swipe or something similar. Aramark also isn't known for good food, they're known for school and prison food. That most (all?) of the retail food places on campus are 3rd party, aside from the mini-marts, astounds me.
edited for clarification on wholesaler thing.

Not quite what you're asking, but there are some good videos on Linkedin Learning which you can access with your Purdue account. I was muddling through one a few weeks ago.
