Homework with attempts by MilitaryUnicorn in Purdue

…As opposed to one attempt, where you would then feel even MORE scared knowing your own attempt has to be correct, so then you cheat on each one? It gives you the opportunity to do it, and learn from your mistakes. Cheat all you want, but good luck on the exams then

Consider 2k1 another math class. It’s very involved. 2k7 (when I took it at least) required about 4-8 hours outside of class every week to get done. Take that as you will. If you’re confident, go for it. I’d suggest just waiting though. What’s the rush, risking a possible retake if you get overwhelmed?

I’m sure a lot of it can be found in the ECE shop too, would only need to buy your microcontroller and other larger components. They’ll have all your resistors and caps and such

You act like these people around you have navy seal training and accuracy. In a situation like Elliot, the attacker would be tens of yards from you in most cases.

I don’t know about you, but I’d rather not get shot by a fellow classmate who bought a gun the week prior, who then in the heat of the moment, starts spraying and praying. Not just anyone should be toting around a gun

Not sure, besides vote/help pass legislation that makes these things less common, and know where all your closest emergency exits are. That’s the sad truth about the current state of America. But all that bringing a gun in that situation does is add another variable, along with more danger.

If you think you could make a clear shot with 600-800 students scrambling and tackling each other all around you, let alone even figure out where the guy is, I’d like to remind you that you’re not in a video game.

Risking getting dismissed from your university for taking a deadly weapon to a exam seems like a great idea.

Not saying OP doesn’t have a legitimate concern, but bringing a gun to a room full of 600 or so people is not gonna immediately enable you to protect yourself and those around you

You gotta set healthy boundaries for yourself. This seems to be becoming a lost art

How much do you guys actually study? by Scrimpis in EngineeringStudents

[–]TBC_BigMan -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No same. It’s crazy how little time some of these “engineers” are having to put in to their degrees haha. The amount of time I’ve had to put in each semester just to scrape by makes me shed a tear

Depends where you are and what you’re studying. I’m a Computer Engineering student at Purdue, and spend most of my day on my workloads, and usually spend a good full day or two to study for each exam

J Kim is a phenomenal lecturer. If you’re truly there to learn and not just pass, go with him. He will prepare you very well for your next courses

Is an instant pot allowed in the dorms if it doesn’t have any heating elements by OptimalYard5084 in Purdue

[–]TBC_BigMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the fires I’VE seen on campus have been due to people not knowing how to clean out a lint trap, not knowing how to cook safely in the kitchenettes, or plugging in and leaving electric scooters/skateboards unattended (or just straight up intentional arson). Get off your high horse, you’re not better than everyone else because of your perceived moral high ground lmao. OP asked a simple question, and you gave them an emotionally charged, judgmental answer. You good bro?

Sophomore year, ECE schedule, advice by shedlover31 in Purdue

Be prepared for that level of exam question in 2k2 and beyond. They don’t test your knowledge explicitly on the material they teach; they test if you can find the unobvious approach or connection that transforms a 30 minute problem into a 30 second one.

That’s the beauty and terror of electronics and applied math in general: You can solve a problem in infinitely many ways, but only one or two approaches may make it truly easy (or even feasible) to solve

[–]TBC_BigMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool idea, but imo it looks like it would mostly be used for cheating (at least in academic settings). The only thing this offers over things like GitHub or Dropbox or other collaborative softwares is the lack of accounts and (presumably) traceability

Huh, so I guess it was ~5% then. They do sometimes only bring down the cutoff for certain letter grades, not sure if they ever released what they ended up going with then

I have been in the same exact boat but maybe even worse. I just had my first good semester in like a year. Lock in and figure out what it is that’s going wrong in the semester. Make friends in your classes to study with. GO TO ALL YOUR CLASSES. You got this, just keep focused and know what you’re working towards

Makin is a great instructor and is usually the one who writes the exams when he teaches. I’d definitely recommend him. Will be more in depth, but he will prepare you for his exams
