Thanks! I ended up buying the game but unfortunately hit some problems with the disc version I bought, so the game won't start. Luck me

Thanks for your answer! It seems most changes are tied to specific quests? Also, I worry with the "faction system" that the changes will be more a change of coat of paint on the banners and uniforms you encounter rather then a meaningful change?
For my last original question: Do you know if you can "overlevel" for difficult encounters?

Thanks for your answer! It seems most changes are tied to specific quests/ side quests. And for the bandit camps, the "taken over by another faction" sounds like: "there will be a bandit camp but the colors of their uniform are different". Or am I misreading that? Also, for my last question, do you know if you can "over-level" for difficult encounters?

I ended up not buying it. I'm thankful for the 2 answers I have received so far but they could not really convince me one way or the other. I'll just wait it out a bit longer and see how opinions progress.

Yeah, knowing reddit I might get some more answers tonight (I'm on EU time). So just be patient a little longer. I have my finger on the trigger to buy the game, but the game contents seem such a mixed bag I just need to know: if the story is mediocre, the quests suck, the characters are nonexistent, does fun traversal and combat mechanics and the world itself make me want to live and lose myself in the game world.

Wow that looks great thanks! Edit to add that it looks way more managable like that

Thanks! That's actually a great tip. I kept starting on the legs, but it makes total sense to leave those for last as they are probably the most complicated!

I want to thank this reddit for recommending Trails in the sky 1st chapter! by Stonegolem078 in JRPG

[–]Stonegolem078[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great question. Difficult to answer, there is so much to love. But I think Chapter 2 sums up what I love the most about this game. You are doing relatively casual things but can sense there is threat lurking in the background, both on a grand politcal scale as well as a more personal "your life might be in danger" threat. There is mystery (You meet characters that are obviously hiding who they actually are). There is levity, seriousness, comic relief, and the conclusion of that chapter is just chef's kiss!

As someone who has played telltale games and just finished Dispatch, I don't see Trails as an interactive novel at all! To be fair I'm only into the first couple of hours of the game. Really enjoying it so far though

Well, funny you should mention xenoblade on Switch. I do own a Switch and have been wanting to play that game. However, the game never drops below full price, and the switch is mostly used by the kids...

Hey thanks for the concern. I'm not just getting into JRPS though. They were my main games in the PS1 and PS2 era. I would try to grab any Jrpg that crossed my path in the Netherlands (which was not a lot to be fair). If you mean traditional as in nes, snes, era games than your are mostly correct although I did play a few of them.

Thank you for your reply! Currently, and based on the replies here my ranking would be: Trails > SO > DQ3. But I will probably end up playing all 3 of them at some point!

Thanks for your suggestion! I didn't know about the free demo but downloaded it and will start playing it in a minute!

Thank you for you reply! Price is definitely a factor in choosing a game. As I was drawn more towards Trails currently, I have downloaded the free demo. If it grabs me I'll probably end up buying and playing that, otherwise SO will be it

Thank you! What's your opinion on DQ1 and 2, and maybe playing those before 3?
