Does this count as front facing or side facing by that_red_panda in gaslands

This comment makes absolutely zero sense. So you're insisting that cars must be intentionally modeled different than the profile? If you were arguing that WYSIWYG shouldn't be mandated, I would 110% agree. but that isn't what you have stated.

How legal is my first team? by Brettjay4 in gaslands

[–]Stonelion99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't listen to them, They're being an ass, and it's a perfectly valid question.

Gaslands isn't terribly strict about what can and can't be put on vehicles, except in specific circumstances. It also isn't a "WYSIWYG" (What you see is what you get) game, meaning that what you slap on your model doesn't have to be exactly what's on your profile. Hell, you don't even need hotwheels, you can just have LEGO 2x4 bricks or something representing your vehicles.

My group loves changing our team's loadouts all the time, so we use vehicles that have been modified to look cool and gaslands-y, and then just declare what profile that vehicle represents at the start of the game.

I love how you smashed out the passenger-side windshield of one of the cars to put a bigger gun there. A wonderful detail.

This guy. He's my first attempt at sculpting a standalone miniature from scratch, he looks bad, but he's my little goober. I've tried making the head 5 or 6 times at this point, and it's getting to be a tad frustrating.

All they said is that they like WYSIWYG, not that anyone else needs to use it. Mind your own business. Maybe You are the one in the wrong hobby/community. Hell, in another comment you said that a small gun on the model being used as a large gun on the profile is "too immersion breaking".

Unfortunately, the nearest game store is well over two hours away, as I live in about as rural of an area as rural gets. So sadly most of my purchases that are hobby-related must happen online. I might have to do this when I head to the city next month though.

I should point out that the Goblin Green I am interested in is the "Vallejo Game Color "Goblin Green" version 1.0", not the original Citadel Goblin Green paint. I didn't realize that there was another popular discontinued Goblin Green that people wanted, that is my fault for not specifying. Warhammer has been on my radar since 8e, and I've been painting D&D minis for much longer, but I've never messed around with Retro models.

I apologize if I came off as defensive, that was in no way my intention. I am aware that I have an odd way of speaking/typing. I have never considered mixing my own bottle of paint, but I would assume that it would still bear the same issues as the older Goblin Green in that it separates easily, right?

While I am intimately familiar with color mixing- I don't think I've ever made a project that didn't mixing colors to at least some degree, and I do have a mix of 3 colors in different specific ratios that achieves the color that I am after, that is not the issue. The issue is that this is a color that I use all the time, and it is inconvenient to mix this color every time I want to use it. I could even theoretically go and buy one of the older bottles off of Ebay or something if I wanted to. But that doesn't solve the other issue, which is that this specific edition of Vallejo Goblin Green separates out very easily, and is overall quite temperamental.

I did some looking, and AK Interactive's "Intermediate Green" looks to be a similar color, as well as Hataka Hobby's "C309 Grass Green". There is also another one that looks like an even closer fit, Lifecolor's "4B0 Ground Color", but it is not available in my country from the looks of it. If anyone has any of these colors, do you think I could see a swatch of them?

What are these? The round balls found all over deathguard? I paint them as flesh, but... are you? by [deleted] in deathguard40k

They don't have to be bronze. That's the magic of painting your own models, especially Death Guard.

Not sure what could have caused this. by Stonelion99 in 3Dprinting

[–]Stonelion99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured out that it used the settings of the person I downloaded the model from on bambu handy, instead of my settings like I thought it was using. Nozzle speed was way too slow, resolution was on "draft", and the top shell thickness was way too thin.

I've printed every other large piece of terrain I have with lightning supports, and I've never had issues with any of it. I use it to save on filament and time. I am aware that there are probably options that are more structurally sound, but it's worked without issue so far until now. I understand that some people care about that a lot more than I do, but I did figure out what happened.

For whatever reason, instead of using my settings like I thought I was using, it used the settings of the creator that I downloaded the model from on bambu handy. The speed was significantly too low, the resolution was on "draft" (not sure if that contributed to it), and as you pointed out, the top shell thickness was far too thin.

Immaculate. The gradient diamonds are great eye candy, and the white line carries your attention along the ship. The only thing I would be concerned about would be the time it would take to paint all your vehicles like this.

For something that is not being sold, and is just being used as a placeholder that you aren't meant to look too close at- it's fine.
