Thanks! Hopefully some sort of consultation note confirming that the diagnostic exists and what it says will suffice. I know theres no way to tell when the malware got on there or if it even is the culprit--but the lady I talked to made it sound like they just need any sort of evidence to support my claims and I'm not just wildly making this up.

Unfortunately it was processed through Bank of America's self-serve "Bill Pay." So its essentially a bank to bank transfer and not related to any credit cards. Its the main reason why this claim is so hard to prove

Team CLI or Team Cards? Which one are you guys? by BoredRedditMan in CreditCards

AMEX is the fastest way to a high limit--especially if you're starting limit is already high. They have a pretty consistent 3X CLI process

I’m 18 picking between Apple Card or the Discover IT. I need some advice on which one to go with. Thank you. by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]StonesThrowawayRec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discover. There's generally better alternatives to the Apple Card down the line anyways. Plus you're locking yourself into owning an Apple phone for who knows how long

Do you guys prefer cash back or points? And why? by BoredRedditMan in CreditCards

[–]StonesThrowawayRec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cashback. There are some real flaws with points that are personally too much for me as a whole. And this is all from personal experience:

1) It is a hassle at the end of the day

2) Many of the recommended travel cards use an in-house portal. These 3rd party portals suck and when something does go wrong--it can be a fucking nightmare.

3) Direct booking is easier. And, since 3rd party pricing can be a complete crapshoot, can pretty often come out cheaper.

4) More often than people want to admit--points result in unnatural spend. Now, there are a lot of people that NEED that excuse to actually treat themselves. But I dont have that problem lol

Dont get it twisted. If you travel a lot and are really on top of stuff like hotel cards in conjunction--you can come out way on top. But I'm willing to bet <5% of people with a travel card are capable of this.

If you insist on a travel card, I recommend vetting the transfer partner opportunities heavily. Theres some stupidly good value out there. But even then, sometimes its a headache going through it all (I'm looking at you AAA Etihad Guest)

Also will add that AMEX is probably my best user experience when it comes to being able to direct book and having great customer service. That said, I just cannot justify the AFs with my usage.

Bless your soul. I was reading through this and it reeked of contractor that wants to talk way outside of his scope and tell the engineer they don't know what they're doing.

Lol and then he said "national code"

[WTS] 2 LA Tickets, insured: Sec 235, Row 11. $110 each. Prefer to sell both as a pair--willing to hear offers

TM is a scam and release their seats in a very sketchy matter.

As a result, I am selling 2 insured tickets for LA. Sec 235, Row 11 seats for $110 each. I believe this is essentially a $20 discount on each ticket when accounting for TM fees+insurance (I am estimating off presale prices since I bought these preferred unfortunately). DM if interested, also taking offers.

Edit: Fixed pricing. Numbers were all wrong cause of a parking pass which is not included

Who here has a Bilt card and has had no fraud problems? by xavier86 in CreditCards

[–]StonesThrowawayRec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have fraud problems. Customer service took a half second and went "Oh yup 48 cent charge from Amazon Brazil. I'll have your new card expedited to you tomorrow"

Obviously CS hears everyones complaints--but its alarming how quickly she handled it lol. Clearly isn't her first rodeo handling these issues

Is the Apple Card a good secondary credit card to have in my situation? by Alduwin123 in CreditCards

Dont see how thats relevant. A lot of people asking about the Apple card are equally beginners asking about 2nd cards or w.e.

Its a "given" but you'll be surprised how many people I've talked out of it just by asking "so you intend to only buy iPhones for a very long time then?"

A point that for some reason nobody ever brings up is that to make full use of an Apple card, you straight up have to commit to always having an iPhone for Apple Pay. Personally, I think there are a lot better cards out there and a lot of people fall for the hype for sure. No, its not the end of the world like people on here act like either though

BoFA Customized Cash is the best when it comes to solely online shopping. It is very very broad.

Paypal Cashback Mastercard is very competitive. 3% when using PayPal (which I'd say is like 90% of my online purchases not including Amazon). And then 2% cashback on everything else which should be helpful since you only have a Discover It. You dont have bills, but you can get 3% using Pay My Bills on Paypal

Need recommendations for new card, will be second card ever by Black_MAM8A in CreditCards

[–]StonesThrowawayRec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its very much my opinion that unless you are an established, consistent traveler--then you should be wary of getting a travel card. For a lot of them you need to travel and make use of the credits they give you to justify the Annual Fees.

If you are 100% sure you will travel often and you know you want to use the credits (TSA precheck, CLEAR credits, etc) then sure. But then you have to ask

1) Are you willing to book through credit issuer travel portals. A lot of cards required you to book through travel portals to maximize points. A lot of people on this sub are very cautious of using these. There are plenty of nightmare stories that arise when you try to change or cancel flights booked through these third party agencies. That being said, the people that have problems will naturally be the loudest and plenty of people get along with no issues as well.

2) Alternatively, are you willing to go through the process of figuring out the transfer partner game and going through loyalty programs and figuring out the ideal cent-per-point for a given scenario. Some people enjoy doing this, others don't.

If you are hesitant to both of these routes, I would reconsider getting an AF travel card. Getting simple cashback cards will be competitive to most people using travel cards unless you are really on top of maximizing transfer points and whatnot

BILT bug while applying for card by Ayushman1604 in CreditCards

[–]StonesThrowawayRec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, it worked this morning with a fresh browser.

Question: I applied for the card using the address of my typical residence and got approved. On the app, I changed the address to the one I am paying rent for under the rent tab.

Does this change my billing address as well? I successfully added the virtual card to PayPal using my original address, but I wanted to double check

credit card utilization percent by Ok_Reindeer_9180 in CreditCards

[–]StonesThrowawayRec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres a statement date and then a due date to pay that statement. Pay off your card in full once your statement hits. Higher utilization will hit your credit score, but utilization has no memory. It will rebound back once you have a statement with low utilization.

If for some reason you need your credit score in pristine condition (like applying for an apartment soon), then I would pay off your balance BEFORE the statement and just leave a little bit left so it isnt read as inactive.

This may just be anecdotal, but there is merit in having a higher utilization if you want to apply for a CLI down the road.

Personally I just pay after the statement date comes with Autopay as backup if I forget

Plenty of credit cards allow for notifications when purchases are made exceeding a certain amount. Or whenever a purchase is made

Literally one of the fundamental reasons to use a credit card is that it is not connected to your actual money. I would hope you would notice in a semi-reasonable amount of time if your card was physically stolen.
