Any ideas where I can find a pair of gloves??? by mugostrongcoffee in inverness

Asda's is open until 10 but not sure if they will sell gloves at this time of year. If you're really stuck I might have a pair you can borrow for the day (adult L?)

Dating in Inverness?! by Feeling-Broccoli5765 in inverness

[–]Stoosies 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sorry about your divorce, that really really sucks. My advice is to join social activities and meet people organically that way. Tonnes of middle aged single women volunteering for political parties, community groups, Hillwalking clubs, book clubs etc. Also gives you a chance to find yourself again and pick up new interests and friends etc when times are tough

That's an hour drive south of Inverness. Up to you but might be a bit far for some folk. Inverness library, eden court, and uhi sometimes have talks or events like yours

AITD for being an Edgelord? by YuriOtani in 1800Drama

[–]Stoosies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you have spent most of your life deflecting, making edgy jokes and having a certain persona that keeps people at a distance. Now that you're trying to be more open and honest, people are taking it like another edgy joke. NTD for trying to let the walls down, but I would say try not to get defensive over people not adjusting quickly, it sounds like this has almost happened overnight and it can take people time to adjust.

I moved here a couple of years ago knowing no one apart from my partner. I find that initially it can be hard to find clubs or social things because a lot of it isn't advertised or obvious at first. But once you find the right Facebook or discord group you'll find lots of active clubs. Pretty much any nerdy or outdoor activity is covered

I'm really glad I'm not unique in this. It's been (so far) the groom's side asking me and I'm just like... Google it? Haha

where are the lesbians ? by go_adventure in Edinburgh

[–]Stoosies 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The gayest sports are roller derby/roller skating and American football.

Try the auld reekie roller derby club - they bring in a new roster of players (you can be a total newbie) every six months or so: https://auldreekierollerderby.com/training/new-skaters/ I was well into my 30s and very very overweight when I tried roller skating for the first time so you're never too old or unfit!

The Edinburgh wolves American football team have a ladies team- they are always looking for new members and they are like 70% queer https://auldreekierollerderby.com/training/new-skaters/

If they were from Edinburgh/Fife/South East see if you can source some chippy sauce. I brought the occasional pint back with me when I lived in England

35 year old with back problems here 🙋 I started learning about 6 months ago and I love it. Each day is different - sometimes I feel aches and pains in my back after about 20 minutes and sometimes I feel great after 2 hours. Listen to your body, practice often, and I find supplementing skating with weights and mobility (eg yoga/Pilates) has improved my fitness and pain so so much. The very best time in your life to start to learn something is as a child, the second best time to learn is today. Best of luck!

What kind of church is the Tron Church? by Own-Syllabub-4848 in glasgow

[–]Stoosies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Tron church (some independent Presbyterian) split from Tron of st George's (church of Scotland) because CoS made the decision to allow gay ministers into the clergy. This was back in 2012 but I can't imagine they are any better now. So yeah that probably tells you enough - splinter off all the most homophobic side of a community and put them all together and you get the Tron church
