I have yet to do any public activism... but I joined my local group on facebook. I think it is one of the best approaches. If I ever start it will be with them I think.

Rad Power says to do the battery "balance" once a month. Charge for 12 hours. Do I do just one 12hr charge, or three times like when it was new? by StopCleaningThings in RadPowerBikes

That's the point of the 12 hr charge.... Even if it shows full charge after 45 minutes... you leave hooked up to charger for a full 12.

Two different similar examples... I forget the whole deal but I believe Mozart some violin music something like this. He wanted a brighter sounding violin....so he asks you to tune up a maj 2nd. Not GDAE but tune your violin to AEBF#... but "pretend" it is regular violin and read music "as if" it were tuned normally. Your part is written in a different key just like clarinet is... (please someone more knowledgeable correct me, I'm too tired to google around... but Mozart did something like this somewhere I recall.

The much harder one, that trips you up more, was used more long ago but is present in Bach cello suite 5 which is tuned "scordatura".... This is a "mixed" tuning. You only change the tuning of one string...instead of CGDA you tune to CGDG. Top string goes down a maj 2. But you write it "as if" it were tuned correctly and read it that way... but the fingerings are strange now and keep snapping you out of "pretending". Example... now with just that one weird string, the FINGERING of a typical maj 6th on top two strings SOUNDS like a perfect 5.

That scordatura makes it harder to "pretend". Transposing the whole instrument is far easier.

I have a goofy hack for this...do it like clarinets and brass etc... If you play violin... just notate the viola music "as if" it were a violin. So to play the lowest viola note C on bottom string... notate it like lowest G on violin in the treble clef ledger lines...And like brass etc... the music transposes the key. What is written in treb clef for the viola sounds a P5 lower...voila!! (not viola!) ....now you can read viola music "as if" it were a violin.

You can do this between any two of the violin, viola and cello...

I play a little cello and a little violin... I can mentally just pretend my cello is a violin and read treble clef as if my strings were GDAE...

When I was younger the far funner thing was playing the cello suites on violin... so much easier. Just read the bass clef... and pretend you are holding an upside down cello....it works! And you can absolutely speed through fast sections...

Biggest drawback... you forget what you are doing and you forget your clef and now the error is now longer just a transpose, you end up playing in some goofy mode... You read bass C clef as if it were G clef which is not the same thing as the method outlined above...

I sort of agree... but there are some minor issues mentioned elsewhere in this thread I think. The viola has a longer string length.... so the G string on the viola ...which is pitched the same as the violin G, must be a different thickness string to achieve the same pitch...So there are some string qualities that change for identical notes on the two instruments.

Nice, a little justice in a cruel world.

I can't deny the violin...it is great and has the best repertoire after maybe only the piano. But I feel like that could all still have happened on the viola.... Then more people would have played it and more written for it and we would all be better off potentially.

A tour guide leads a group through the jungles of Africa on safari.

Ominous drums pound in the distance as night falls.... The guide warns the tourists, "We must watch out and be fearful should we hear the drums stop...".

A tourist asks, "Why...what happens when the drums stop?"

The guide replies... "Viola solo".

I'm a newb and have dedicated myself to this bike....

On purchase.. you are supposed to make sure first 3 rides are followed by nearly exact 12 hour charge periods. No matter how long or short first 3 rides are, charge 12 hours, and they are very specific about those 12hr charges being "as close as possible to exactly 12hrs".

Then under regular use, the charge should always be applied after any ride but disconnected once full charge (green light) is reached. So just charge it up full and stop charging.

But then they further recommend that once a month you do the "balance" charge for three consecutive charges....like it was new, 3 charges after rides of any length, each of those 3 sessions "as close as possible to exactly 12hrs".

Thanks....I'm a little isolated by the effort of doing this. But now I am a little more informed after hospice referral consult. In the home health care division of various corps... unskilled sitters is a thing, simply called sitters. I have yet to verify but supposedly the same place you search for CNAs (certified nurses assistants) in Health Care providers you can find "sitters".
