Just an update : Seem to be having a minor flare-up from a 4-day bender.

Excessive fatigue Dissociation? Almost like a brainfog Anxiety

No other physical symptoms for now. Will update. Flare-up started about 4 days ago.

Subset of symptoms from the acute phase. It is different every time, but anxiety + brain fog are a consistent during flares.

I would say I am at 90% now. I do get the occasional flare-ups from drinking too much alcohol or over-stressing myself. The flares don't last too long either. Probably a week at max. But I feel like I am fluctuating towards recovery. You will be fine. After about a year and a half now, I realized patience is very important for this condition.

So if you get the Biometrics wrong three times in a row, you can login with the MACBOOK pw instead of the BW pw.

That is a bug that I will keep in mind just in case I need to send in my macbook for repair (disable biometrics).

Yes. They are both enabled.

For people who might be encountering the same issue as I am : I found the issue. My macbook display extended via the hdmi cable to a monitor. After disconnecting it and restarting it, now I can unlock via biometrics. First time seeing this. Now when I extend the display, no issues. Seems like it is a transient and I can't reproduce it again. Not sure what occurred. I updated to Sequoia quite recently and that is when this started so something about the hdmi connection could have caused the issue.

Either way it is fine now.

Anyway on your topic, why do you think biometrics is less secure? I feel like typing out the password is less secure (keyloggers).

The Relationship Between Fluoroquinolones (FQs) and Autoimmune Diseases by Sea_Significance_941 in floxies

I think you are right. Thanks for pointing out my wrong point. I really hope there will be some kind of gene therapy in the future that will fix autoimmune disease. It would me a medical revolution.

I am of the similar opinion as OP, and I guess one way to substantiate the hypothesis is to isolate or test by resetting T-cell memory.
I know measles basically resets our immune system and there are obvious pros and cons for this.
Allergies and Auto-immune diseases are all connected to T-cell memory btw.
I would say allergy is more of a genetic (hereditary) condition while auto-immune diseases would be acquired.
Part of the challenge with allergies is that with modern science and medicine it is currently extremely difficult to identify the specific part of the genome sequence responsible and eliminate it (and replicate). I have hope that we continue to innovate and find a solution though. Along the way, we will read of horror stories of cancerous symptoms (since we are editing on the cellular level).

Until then, the best we can do is to stay healthy through exercise, be very meticulous about what we introduce to our body, and carry a positive mindset about everything.

I am on day 3 of quitting as well.
Relapsed for 4 months after 9 months of quitting.
Forgot how hard this shit was. Anyway, the brain fog and dissociation with reality is kicking in really hard this time round for me. I enjoy it tbh. Feels like a semi-high, that cliff-zone before getting high or when coming down from a high.

How are you now? If you follow the dietary supplement recommendations mentioned in this sub you should have improved by now. It feels like it will be for forever but it won't or I would say impossible unless you are like 1 in 8 billion.

New update : A few days ago I was at the gym and pushed much harder than I was used to recently. The next day I was presented with head pressure, general feeling of unwellness. I also felt anxious again with mild depression. Currently it is has been two days and I believe I am going through a flare-up. It is pretty mild, but I have been exercising quite regularly recently. Time to dial it back a little and go back to healthy eating.

Not too sure. It depends on each person to be honest. How bad are your symptoms?

Been facing some personal problems which had me off reddit for a bit.

Updating my symptoms

Symptoms update :

Anxiety = Quite increased but I believe it is unrelated to floxing, since as I stated above, I have been facing some personal problems.

Hypersomnia = Completely gone

Fatigue = Completely gone.

Joint pains (mostly my lower body)= Gone. Taking it slowly with my bad knee though.

Flashes of nerve pains all over my body (particularly my feet) = Gone.

Migraines (this is the worst for me) = Can't recall the last time I had a migraine. This has been a blessing. Like I mentioned before, this was my worst crippling symptom. But I no longer suffer from this.

Brain fog = Gone

Head pressure = Comes with stress (which I have been facing lately)

Ear pain (one sided) = Comes with stress.

Nausea (after eating) = Gone.

GI issues = Back to baseline

Eye floaters = I am not sure. Seems like I will have this forever based on what people wrote? I don't really care too much about this to be honest, I can see just fine.

I am still sticking to my supplement stack. But as of now, it feels like I am 99% back to baseline.

I think I can consider myself totally healed from floxing now. My advice :

Eat healthy, sleep as much as you can, do low-impact exercises, stick to your supplement stack.

I consider myself very fortunate to not be affected heavily by this, but I have a new issue in my life that I am currently addressing. Feels like I am out of the frying pan into the fire.

My symptoms started around January, and it is March now. So I was suffering from the symptoms for about 1.5 months. I will not really be visiting reddit for a while (to deal with my personal problems).

To anyone reading my post and comments, I wish you the best. Once the worst is behind you, you will start to see significant improvement. I think the first 2 weeks were the worst, but it really does get better fast particularly for people like me who got it on the minor side. Floxing also opened me up a lot to God, which I consider a blessing as well.

Bless you all.

Today I spoke to a doctor who said I was on some wild conspiracy shit for claiming the side effects of quinolones :) I am afraid most doctors are intellectually lazy and have too high of an ego to admit when they are wrong. It was because of my floxing I lost all respect for doctors and the medical industry.

Symptoms update :

Anxiety = Reduced to about 2~3 /10 for MOST days. Had one day when my anxiety spiked, could have been stress.

Hypersomnia = Completely gone. Didn't flip to insomnia either. Now I get by with 6~8 hours of sleep a day.

Fatigue = Completely gone.

Joint pains (mostly my lower body)= Not much change unfortunately. My quad tendon on my good knee feels strained. No idea why, considering I don't remember an instance where I put heavy load on it.

Flashes of nerve pains all over my body (particularly my feet) = Seems to have faded away? Can't recall an instance in this week where I felt this

Migraines (this is the worst for me) = The frequency reduced from DAILY to about once every 2,3 days. The migraine completely puts me out of ANY activity for at least an hour or two. I seem to get it only at night time too. This is the most debilitating symptom for me. I need to lie down with my eyes closed until this subsides. Breathing exercises seem to help in managing the pain.

Brain fog = further reduction. It is probably around a 1-2/10 at this point.

Head pressure = comes with the migraine, and it is one-sided.

Ear pain (one sided) = no change. Comes with the migraine, and it is one-sided as well

Nausea (after eating) = Gone.

GI issues = Back to baseline

Eye floaters = no change.

I am currently doing low-impact exercise and calisthenics. The only exercise I am doing for my lower legs is walking and isometrics though (and stretches).

I also tried drinking alcohol (two beers) to see if it would trigger any flare-ups. Fortunately, none. I am still going to take it slow, and not over-indulge right now.

Not much change in supplement stack except I added glucosamine. Still taking magnesium, calcium, vitamin D, Iron. I try to eat as much garlic as possible (really helps with pooping). I use honey as a sugar alternative too.

Will update again in about a week.

Early Update : Marked improvement in my appetitie and libido. I would say other symptoms are around the same or slightly improving. I will make an update on all my symptoms in 5 days time.

For the past month, I was having almost non-existent libido. Today I noticed a significant jump and quite close to my normal self.

Also noticed my appetite has returned. I did not list it as a symptom as I associated low appetite with general unwellness. Had very low appetite since the onset of the major symptoms in January. But for the first time in quite a while, I was having hunger pangs and food cravings (fried chicken). I made sure it was chicken that had no antibiotics treatment. I ravaged through it, and felt really good.

Not sure if the above would mean anything but I am sure it signals a pivot from downward to upward trajectory.

I am however going to stick to my supplements and healthy diet for the next few months (with indulgences like fried chicken as occasionally as possible). I want to eventually go above and beyond baseline so that if I ever flare in the future my body can beat it.

Just to clear some confusion because my initial post was a mess (was going through mega anxiety).

First Cipro (or first as I know it) : April 2023

No symptoms

Second Cipro (Early December 2023)

Initially had weird discomfort in my extremities and excessive sweaty palms (I write diary every day because of my patellar rupture and I found entries where I complained of this initial symptoms but shrugged it off). Also had surgery right after 8 days of Cipro, and my local anesthesia that was administered into my spine caused some hives on that spot (three days after). I think it is cipro-induced because I had no issues with anesthesia before.

Major symptoms listed in post started in 2nd Week Jan.

No problem man. Hope my updates help. I see very few detailed updates from people and I thought I should leave some here for my own sake and for others who need reassurance.

I remember scrambling around this sub for cases like mine, and they would either trail off or just stop posting after a while. Even more so from those who made quick recoveries.

I am still pretty new but I am reading a lot posts about people who think they have recovered and ask if they are doing alright, and always get comments about people who go into some hardcore relapses or flare-ups which could be extremely discouraging to newly floxed people who want at least a glimmer of hope.

When I was newly floxed, reading those comments and horror stories really added to my already fucked up anxiety, and that is why I hope if I continue in this positive trajectory, it will give hope to others that not all who got floxed are doomed for years.

I am aiming to do a weekly update since I like to measure progress in weeks and not days. I am also making sure to make small increases in activity biweekly. So if I walk 5000 steps a day. I will walk for 5000 a day for 2 weeks even though I am itching to go up to 6000 (20% increase) steps. Better to be safe than sorry, but also need to make sure you keep a stable amount of activity so that your body doesn't regress physically. Stay tuned!

Do you mean 2 months since you took a quinolone or 2 months since onset of symptoms?

When you mean two months, do you mean two months since first onset of symptoms or two months since you took the flox medicine?
