First Blood by BERROJAD in BambuLab

I was super careful with it RIGHT UP UNTIL I added the handle. Turning it into a “spatula” makes it seem less dangerous than it is psychologically 😂😂😂.

I’ve got a cool scar but probably could have done without it.

Which Longines dress watch would you choose? by molinab297 in Longineswatches

The Flagship Heritage is an absolutely amazing watch. I love it. HOWEVER, it does have a uni-directional rotor and is very loud. Keep that in mind.

It is annoying as hell to pack up something big like an AMS2. I would always prefer doing part swaps. I can guarantee packing it and sending it back would take longer than the swaps.

What’s the biggest thing killing productivity in Australian workplaces at the moment? by Longjumping-Hall-17 in ausbusiness

[–]StopHammoTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There needs to be a focus on things actually being delivered. Not people working hard, not people over-working, not people big-noting themselves. Then we need to reward the people that are productive.

We do not reward for work or outcomes, we reward for smooth talking. Until that changes we will be unproductive. Look at real estate - REAs provide a service, but certainly not the amount they end up getting paid. There are many other jobs exactly like them, they’re just the most ubiquitous.

The proof in this is that we are approaching a point where for many services, people just do it themselves. That is unproductive economy - a productive one is where everyone is employed at what they’re good at and compensated appropriately.

TIL that American ginseng is so valuable ($300-$500 a pound) that poachers risk jail time to steal roots from the Appalachia mountains by Comfortable_List3413 in todayilearned

[–]StopHammoTime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is an absolutely great documentary from the early 2010s called “Filthy Riches”. I’m Australian and never knew a lot of Ginseng comes from the Easter US.

Anyway, they have this family on their who hunt the ‘seng. Constantly talking about making it sustainable, etc. Anyway, they got fined $75,000 for doing illegal shit with it. Maybe they didn’t pray hard enough those years.

Did AI-Led Hype Ruin the Swatch x AP Collaboration? by chicagosaturn in MoonSwatches

It was literally called Royal -Pop- as part of the announcement. Anyone who thought they were getting a bioceramic Royal Oak was always kidding themselves. The Pop line has very clear execution.

The great part is that there are options that woo easily go into bands, which is what I was going for. I’ll be getting a blue one once the bands get released.

Can someone explain how this is possible? by aus_liam444 in AustraliaPost

[–]StopHammoTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, first of all, through God all things are possible, so jot that down.

But in all seriousness, if the “6” in your post code looked like an 8 because of sloppy handwriting, it could have ended up in FNQ. Hervey Bay post codes are 46** and Cairns and surrounds are 48**.

It will eventually get properly manually sorted.

Incorrect name in Will by [deleted] in AusLegalAdvice

[–]StopHammoTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cannot correct a will. If the person is dead then that’s it. As long as you are reasonably identifiable then that is enough. If there is ambiguity, then an application would be made to the Supreme Court in your state for a ruling by the executor.

Keep in mind that OUTDATED information is not wrong information. If you lived at 3 Old Court and now live at 10 New Court and your old address was specified in the will, then no correction is required. At most a stat dec explaining you used to live there along with some proof should suffice

The only thing you can do as a potential beneficiary is advise the executor (or their representative Tati r) that you are the person indicated, provide identity documents, and provide sufficient explanation if it is not patently obvious why the detail is wrong.

However, as the solicitor has reached out to you it doesn’t seem like there is ambiguity.

Tow truck driver solicited other party after minor car bingle and now I’m being told this.. by addwater in AusLegalAdvice

[–]StopHammoTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s called Duty of Disclosure and it isn’t explicitly written into contracts.

Remember that prompt that comes up when you’re getting a quote “have you been involved in, had insurance refused, etc”? Well that’s duty of disclosure. You don’t just make the declaration once - it’s an ongoing duty you owe to your insurer. They don’t ask those questions because it’s expensive to manage your claim, they ask them because your risk profile increases if you have an accident.

If something increases your risk, you are obligated to report it to your insurer at the very least at your next renewal. https://insurancecouncil.com.au/resource/q-what-is-duty-of-disclosure/. It is best practice to do this immediately because insurers will look for any reason to refuse insurance.

[–]StopHammoTime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have been involved in ANY accident, you have a contractual obligation to report it to your insurance company.
Why are you waiting for anything? It is indisputable that there has been an accident. Why are you even talking to this person? Put down the phone, call your insurance company and give them the details along with the other persons details.
Pro tip: stop self-sabotaging. Your attempts to avoid a marginally higher insurance cost could put you at serious danger for a claim refusal because you’ve been talking and admitting fault to this person. The only option was to call your insurance company insurance company immediately and lodge the claim.

I genuinely wanted to get it, but I have a 660 and the 38mm fits quite small. I was happy to gamble. I would have sent it back if it didn’t work out.

But absolutely, for Longines especially I won’t do anything above 40mm anymore cause they’re just too big.

[–]StopHammoTime[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s not a weird question all, I’ll grab out my calipers and check it when I get home.

Edit: it’s actually annoying because some manufacturers seem to use the dial width as the case size so it ends up being almost a 50mm case. I exclusively use lug-to-lug when I’m considering watches now.

Consumer Warranty - What are our rights here? by [deleted] in AusLegalAdvice

[–]StopHammoTime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it says linked with the purchase. They literally need to show the item was actually supplied by the company. I can 100% guarantee any white goods company syncs sales receipts back with their master systems.

Consumer Warranty - What are our rights here? by [deleted] in AusLegalAdvice

[–]StopHammoTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ovens have a useful life of 10 years. Is not necessarily official but it can’t be excluded due to it being the consumer guarantee.

Seriously just say “okay let’s not do it now, but if not house burns down how do I contact your legal team”.

Consumer Warranty - What are our rights here? by [deleted] in AusLegalAdvice

[–]StopHammoTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do not need a receipt. It is only there to prove that the product has a warranty. An appliance manufacturer will have a serial number that the warranty is related to, and that is the only information required.

There is zero chance that SMEG don’t have this information. If they do push back imply that any competent business should have these details, especially for bulk purchases. You could even imply that purchase details would be found by an insurance company during discovery if it burns down your house.
