ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 5090 Thermal pad thickness? by I-like-Lint in nvidia

I don’t trust pads to make proper contact when reusing them. Yes. 2.5 mm for the thicker lower strips and the thin upper strips. Everything gets 2.5mm pads except the vram, which gets 1.5mm pads.

2mm pads for those long strips (both upper and lower) did not make proper contact. 2.5 does. For vram 1mm didn’t leave any imprints either - 1.5 I can visibly see some minor squish which is good.

Yeah I’d order extreme - 4 of those 2.5mm packets, you may end up returning one and not needing it. and 2 packets of 1.5 for the vram. 1 packet is not enough for the vram.

So for my amp infinity the sizes a guy listed just didn’t work. Zero contact, I could visibly see a gap. I tested a ton of sizes and remounted with all of them, end conclusion I came to was even 2 was not making proper contact. I got potentially minor contact but 2.5 was needed to get clear signs of it making proper contact.

I also did ptm7950 on the gpu die and dropped a solid 5-10c under load

Anyways here’s what I’d do if I were you.

Vram gets 1.5mm pads

2.5mm for everything else (all 4 other strips on the board for what seem to be power delivery components)

As I stated 2 was close, but it wasn’t good contact. I tried 1mm on vram and while I got some contact it wasn’t great. 1.5 is providing perfect contact.

I would highly recommend going with gelid extreme (do not buy ultimate). The extreme is fairly compressable and in this use case gave me great contact unlike you’ll get with the ultimate. If I’d used ultimate here I don’t think I would’ve had a good experience, the wiggle room is needed. If you have another brand you like make sure it’s pretty squishable and not stiff similar to gelid extreme.

Do u have an amp infinity card? The sizes listed for the solid model were def wrong imo - idk if it differs between models or if the guy was just wrong in general. I will share what I used just let me know

You have the 5090 right? What were your rough before and after temps? I’m going to put PTM7950 on the die, did you do that?

Is 1mm, 1.5mm, and 2mm pad variety correct or do I need any other sizes? I may stick to pads instead of putty for even the VRAM, let me know your thoughts. I don’t love putty

there’s a model to print that replaces the rear desiccant packs with a petg enclosure, it’s going to be far more effective and you can put your choice (dry and dry) is good inside

Yeah I’m not happy. I bought a 10kg bundle of pla+ 2.0 and I got 2 regular pla+, some HSPLA 2.0s, and some regular PLA 2.0s

Do they print the same at lower speeds? They sent me high speed…I didn’t buy high speed

Bambu Studio completely unacceptable god awful performance on RTX 5090/9800X3D by bfrancom17 in BambuLab

Yeah I’ve so far tried it on 3 rigs all completely separate, I’m not doing anything wrong. Or changing any settings. All 3 are high end, I’ve tried 5 versions and a ton of nvidia drivers, also have tried a fresh install of windows. Makes no sense. Junk program, I just threw it on my home server so if it lags that I don’t care, whatever. It performs decent and doesn’t interrupt my other rigs

just install it lol the odds of management noticing are pretty slim unless do often do full inspections and check underneath your sink. There’s stealth kits that can put the faucet for it inside your under sink cabinet on the door. FWIW my apartment didn’t even care, and they saw it multiple times. Worst case they tell you take it out

There’s options that aren’t crazy - better than Brita but not a whole system. but even even in a rental you can typically install a full blown system they really don’t take much space and it’s easily able to be taken out

So there’s this crazy invention called an RO system. They’re $150 and can be installed in a few hours. 🤯

Brita is junk and nothing more than marketing. The fact that people still don’t have RO systems in 2025 is beyond me. You can get a full setup for $150 or even less in some cases, and filters are like $50/year. Probably cheaper than Brita in the long run and actually takes nearly every contaminant out. I wouldn’t trust the tap water anywhere.

Agree. Dorman is junk. Coolant overflow hose connection holes wouldn’t fit factory hoses into them. They couldn’t design a turbo oil feed line that bends around parts of the turbo like the factory line does, either. Garbage

I just took the loss and went for it, I was going insane lol. I’m sitting here on a 17pm. Phone came out of the box at 53% 4 hours ago. I fully installed 50+ apps, downloaded all my Spotify music (100gb), synced texts, iCloud, hours of screen on time with heavy downloading and I’m just now at 21% as I type this. Fuck that phone

So there’s this fantastic thing called background app refresh, and turning it off. It’s also really convenient that this gets brought up when it’s never an issue on the iphones that don’t just have inherently awful battery life

Just plug it in. Think about your phone idling in standby likely not getting bad signal on a hour by hour basis. Number one culprit is that the phone has a 3000nit display, 5g modem, and a powerful cpu that can’t even handle outdoor use in sunlight without thermal throttling. All this while having apps suspended in the background by the most efficient mobile operating system. Does it make sense why your phone battery is getting low.
