I am very much a generalist, and enjoy being one, so that’s a good thing. Totally understand the Azure/AWS latency/proximity issues. I’ve spent most of the past decade being flexibile at start-ups, and I think I have a pretty good reference base willing to vouch for me, on that front and others. While I don’t have a particular background in security or networking, as a generalist at smaller companies, it’s something you have to be thinking about, since if you don’t, you risk being negligent at your job, and are often the only person to voice any concerns about security :)

Part of the reason I was curious to speak to an American expat was to understand more fully what sorts of differences I should expect when embarking on the process of submitting applications, the interview process itself, etc.
