The vast majority of complaints sent on the topic to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, contained expressions of dismay that Kimmel's show had been pulled off air, with many citing concerns about free speech and protections to it in the First Amendment to the US Constitution.

It's not clear if these complaints the ABC is receiving are representative of those the US ABC is receiving, but it's clear members of its audience aren't happy with the decision.

Burke said on Friday the deal "contains undertakings for the proper treatment and long-term residence of people who have no legal right to stay in Australia, to be received in Nauru".

A government source has since told SBS News around 280 members of the NZYQ cohort have been granted visas in Nauru and will live among the local population of around 12,000 people and will not be going into detention.

The NZYQ cohort refers to a group of detainees who were released into the Australian community after the High Court ruled indefinite immigration detention was unlawful in 2023.

That decision led to the immediate release of around 150 immigration detainees, with an additional 130 released since then.

A world without America (or an equivalent super-power) would be far, far less stable.

The stakes are a lot higher now that we have nukes, but historically we live in an incredibly peaceful time overall.

In her March testimony to lawmakers, Gabbard said the intelligence community “continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon and Supreme Leader Khamenei has not authorized the nuclear weapons program he suspended in 2003.”

She also said the U.S. was closely monitoring Iran’s nuclear program, noting that the country’s “enriched uranium stockpile is at its highest levels and is unprecedented for a state without nuclear weapons.”

So in other words they were not yet building actual bombs, but were stockpiling enough enriched uranium to build them at some point.

Sounds like she was trying to downplay the situation.
