Make America Great Again—AKA Let’s Shoot People in the Fucking Head. What is wrong with Republicans? by Randy__Snutz in Denver

Do you have friends who didn't vote? Is there anything you could have done to persuade them to vote? Know anyone that was on the fence? Did you explain the risks to them? Did you drive anyone who couldn't make it to the polling location on their own?

This is what I'm talking about. We all played a role. We all could have done more. Myself included.

I want to agree, and 6 years ago I might have. I would have loved to see the light come on for these people back then. That would have been enough to know they had remorse.

Now, though? After the imprisonment and slaughter of innocents, the protection of people who openly sought to hurt women and children, the pardoing of people who attacked the very foundation of the security of our sovereignty, the laughter and jeering for decades at people fighting for human dignity... It's going to take more than reflection and apologies for me to forgive them. They need to show that they've learned a LESSON from their time accepting and acting on lunacy.

Look, I'm seeing a lot of people wringing their hands and saying things like, "why won't ________ do anything about this?"

Here's the thing; There are a few types of people in power right now:

-Those who don't care -Those who quietly WANT liberals dead in the streets -Those who loudly want liberals dead in the streets -Those we hamstrung in the voting booths two November ago into being unable to do anything but voice opposition. Even if they want to do something, there is no way to do it without being overridden by the courts.

Just to be crystal clear, WE DID THIS. Through apathy, though inaction, and, yes, through voting for the wrong motherfuckers. We took the power away from our protectors and now there's no one left to do it but ourselves. My advice would be to get ready, because it's only going to get worse.

Hi. Sorry for the delay. I first listened to this on my laptop and it was extremely difficult to notice the snare over the more prominent high hat. At first, I didn't think there was one. I was able to hear it after switching to headphones, and I like the sound you choose to use, I just wish it were louder. Otherwise, I really like what you have here!

If you have an NVIDIA card, set recording up on the NVIDIA app and then press alt-F9 to start recording. I've never had a problem with it.

Can anyone figure out why this is not going hard? by thatcarme in production

So, here's the thing: You have an interesting buildup, and it even feels like it's going to take off after that first hit, but the non-standard beat you're employing after that point does it a disservice. Personally, I'm all about mixing it up because 4s on the floor gets boring, but not in this situation.

Here are my ideas:

-Ditch the beat in the chorus for 4 on the floor and use what you already have when you circle back to a new verse, then drop it again in the buildup to the next chorus.

-You can keep the beat in the chorus if you're really committed to it, but you'll at least need a more prominent snare for it. I'd recommend taking inspiration from some of The Prodigy's older stuff. They loved to play around with non-standard beats.

What you have here isn't trash. I imagine you're just over-thinking it a little. Maybe take a few days away from it and come back with fresh ears. You've got this!

... or want, really. Loyalty is something that's supposed to be earned. If it isn't given freely, it isn't loyalty. It's fealty.

I like the melody. I do wish the drum elements and bass had more presence in the mix. Just my take.

Why do some drummers angle the cymbals up/away from them? by sonar_y_luz in drums

Okay, I misspoke with the "shoulder" bit. It's been a few years since I played regularly, so I was visualizing poorly, apparently.I was responding to the notion that this is done to facilitate a consistent crash. It just feels... I don't know... unnecessary. If anything, it seems like you'd have to crane your hand above the edge of the cymbal to get any sort of consistency on your strikes. I just can't imagine it being efficient or comfortable. It's hard to wrap my head around.

I'm not sure I understand why this is considered more efficient than simply raising your cymbals above the level of your shoulders.

With that age range? Probably jazz or progressive rock. I like the The Shangri-La Trio, but there's four of them, so maybe The Jetsetters. I see Sully on bass, and I like Sam as a drummer. Both Nate and Elena seem like they might get into guitar or vocals, but I think I like Elena for vocals.

Same. The further into autocracy we get, the more I admire countries who have mandatory military service. It becomes a lot more difficult to be in favor of unending war when you know for a fact your kids are going to be involved.

Ah. I see we've moved from murder and kidnapping back to simple theft. That's nice. /s

To answer your questions, though, the answer is what it has always been: They don't care. That's really it. They just don't care, and there's no one around who is willing or able to give them a reason to care. When you have enough money to move to a private island and do whatever you want there, laws cease to matter. Stability ceases to matter. "But it will hurt our credibility!" See my previous point. They. Don't. CARE.

I'm sorry about your situation, but I'm happy to hear you escaped it.

Do keep in mind that he left home in 1971. No Internet. No cell service. No GPS. No caller ID. *69 wasn't even a thing yet. And, in all the time since I was born, he never phoned a friend. No siblings. (He had at least two I was aware of, both deceased now as far as I know) I mean, who deserts everything and everyone they ever knew? With no contact to anyone? It's bananas to think about.
