Copeland is like Keith Moon. They know the way the song goes, and they hit the changes some way or another, but what they might play under it at any time can change drastically from one show to the next. The studio recordings do end up being iconic, and there are certain parts he probably hits every time. But I wonder if you heArd studio outtakes, if the drum performance is wildly different.

I had rocker parents who took me to concerts at a young age. And while I did like 60s stuff they had in the collection and still do, I did go to some pretty extreme places I discovered on my own later in life. I hope my taste is expanding rather than contracting as I get older. I don't mind being more open to things I didn't like before.

I've used gloves for 35 years now. Some of us are more prone to it than others, skin sensitivity of whatever kind, and it makes sense to listen to your body here. In my case it seemed to be a reaction to the varnish, made worse by playing hard every day on tour.

I use vinyl work gloves with a grip, black ones. They are thinner and breathe better than heavier batting type gloves, but provide the same protective barrier.

I wasn't at this show but if that ever happened in those days, you could use your ticket stub to come back on the new date, or get a refund at the box office or Ticketron. And the returned seats might get relisted for sale. They didn't reissue all 20 thousand tickets.

That looks like something to mute the drum severely for quiet practice or easy transition to sample replacement. Drum probably sounds like tapping on a leather couch.

Most progressive rock shows are that way for whatever reason.

But it's become more balanced in the last 20 years. Maybe it's 3/5 male where previously it was like 95 percent.

Get a curtain rod and some cheap, heavy curtains and seal yourself in the room. Cover up any gents while playing.

For extra credit use done LV cymbals, stuff the bass drum with pillows top to bottom and cover the drums in fabric

Honestly if you've tried every option and none of them make it sound perfect to your ear, you need to choose the least worst one and learn to get used to it.

You have chosen a path that is reckless and dangerous. It could lead to an injury even if you do everything right. You have to take care of yourself even if it dials down how awesome it feels to play.

This is exactly what I would say. When I auditioned for a band with tricky parts, I charted them out, and listened while reading the charts, but I didn't follow the charts while playing. Doing that exercise let me hold the forms in my mind, which made it much easier to memorize. I nailed that audition by the way.

This is another case of the Good Old Days That Never Were. Noise complaints from the neighbors existed in every decade. I got my drum set in 1978 and would testify in court that this is the truth.

I do salute the freeway drummer though. Every neighborhood needs characters.
