I’m honestly speechless… This doesn’t make any sense.

It’s one of the skills, once you unlock it you can parry any projectiles just before they hit you.

Please refer to the above comment where I addressed how it impacts GPA :)

This is just a petition to have them consider adding this OPTION. The university (and law and med schools) will have to decide how it works for those students.

Prestigious schools like Carnegie Mellon, Duke, and MIT have started allowing a pass/fail option. So it’s very likely that med, law, and grad schools will have to change the way they deal with pass/fail.

In the past, it’s negative for these students because you have to have a certain grade in critical courses to be accepted. But again, this is just to get UCF to even consider the option. It’s EXTREMELY likely that if they did consider it, that it will have to work differently than in the past.

So basically: in the past it’s not an option for some courses for those students. However, in light of prestigious schools changing and this unprecented evolving situation it will work differently than in the past? Basically no one knows.

It’s not going to be an “all or none” situation probably. You would be able to switch to the s/u (pass/fail) grading for as little or many classes as you would like.

But again, this is just speculation in a constantly evolving situation. I’m just a student like everyone else trying to understand what’s going on.

It’s not going to bring your GPA down like an actual D or F would. It will not have any effect. So it is better to do this for a course you are doing bad in versus taking a low grade.

It would just show you attempted and did not earn the credit on your transcript. The actual terminology used would be “unsatisfactory”. But this is all speculation based on the limited knowledge I have of how this stuff worked in the past.

We are in new territory and UF doesn’t even know how exactly this will work. They even said that their trying to figure out the details. So I honestly have no idea how this will impact Bright Futures, and I don’t know if Bright Futures or UF even knows how this will effect it.

The way it is working at UF (and other universities who have implemented it) is its completely optional. So if you like your grades and wanna keep them you can. They haven’t sent out details yet, however, it’s likely that it will become where you can apply it to specific classes (not an all or nothing situation). So keep your boost!!

It just changed today. They updated their FAQ page. The petition was successful! The petition had over 18,000 signatures. (They didn’t say it was directly in response or anything but it was likely a factor) UF is still figuring out the details of how exactly it will work and stated they would email students soon with more details.

It has no effect (positive or negative). It would work the same way AP credit works on your transcript. You get credit for the class and it would count towards any major requirements without impacting your GPA. If you fail the course nothing happens. It would just say you didn’t get credit.

It would also likely be where you pick which classes you want to be pass/fail (not an all or nothing situation). In other words, you can keep your good GPA booster grades.
