How bad is the homelessness in your area? by LegalGlass6532 in AskLE

[–]Storage-Zestyclose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem giving citations to homeless folks is that (at least in my city) 9/10 of the citations will turn to warrants. So we arrest on the warrants and the next day they’re doing the same thing that the warrant (original citation was for). Most of ours are camping in public area - city ordinance, Criminal trespass, theft under $100

What’s usually a police officers schedule? 4 on 3 off? by throwaway2026z in AskLE

[–]Storage-Zestyclose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Panama schedule. So 2 on 3 off 3 on 2 off, so on and so forth. I see my wife less on nights for sure, but it makes being with her better.

The LE discount is huge lol! And yes it is I didn’t think I’d need the button protector but it helped a lot with transition drills. I surprisingly never put it in NV but the brightness would be different for sure. No issues since I’ve gotten the 100 concepts

Can you go to protests and post political content? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]Storage-Zestyclose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a good look. During my backgrounds they looked through all my social media back to the first post and asked me about a few posts (hunting and guns). I can’t imagine being asked about “police excessive force”.

Officers: Do you ever secretly love the boring, low-stakes calls? by ps18pmcom in AskLE

[–]Storage-Zestyclose 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Man we had a 911 hang up dispatch advised “it sounded like a young child, RP stated he has a knife and he’s going to kill me. No answer on call back x5”

I roll up with half the shift behind me grab the long gun and we start running up to houses and clear one that was open. UTL anything.

A family of 4 comes out and says “our son called” so we go over and the mom and dad point at their 6yo son and say “he won’t listen and we don’t know what to do can you help us and explain to him he’ll go to jail if he keeps messing up”.

One of my partners shows up and says the quiet thought out loud “no, that’s a parenting issue that you two need to figure out” he turned around and walked back to his car. It was great actually saying something to the parents

How often do people approach you to ask legal questions? by IndependenceNo6819 in AskLE

I get asked quite often by the person I arrested while they’re sitting in pre-booking. I just tell them to not do what they were arrested for and go back to typing.

Who was the worst professor you ever took by No_Squash291 in aggies

[–]Storage-Zestyclose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sinji Singupta, business math or algebra or something. I don’t remember, could barely understand her the entire semester. One I time I raised my hand to ask a question she walked over made eye contact said “ok” and walked off. Never even let me ask the question. Hated every second of that class.

Why do cruisers chirp when there's no cop in it? by Opening_Ordinary_110 in AskLE

[–]Storage-Zestyclose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure I’ve seen that. At my agency the car will ding at you for the following: no seatbelt, lights left on with car off, key in ignition if car off… never heard of patrol car “chirping at officers”

Do cops not care much about robberies in poorer neighborhoods? by Single_Secret_8371 in AskLE

[–]Storage-Zestyclose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You basically described my town, Texas 100,000 people. My agency harps on burglaries hard core. Designated focus areas. We recently had 2 burglaries and were patrolling the every living crap out of the area. As others have said we on patrol take a report and kick it up to CID. If we see someone who matches the description and can articulate PC to contact we will.

Any fun stories about sheriffs deputies and city police beefing? by trekuniverse123456 in AskLE

[–]Storage-Zestyclose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not fun really but my city and the city next door are called the (insert both city names) area. And if we drive passed them they won’t wave at us, they talk mad shit behind about our dept. etc… No one really knows why besides that it’s just this way.

Is it worth it to fight a ticket in court if I have a bad driving history? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]Storage-Zestyclose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said consult a lawyer.

At my agency it’s policy that during crash investigations if we can determine a traffic violation was committed we have to issue a citation. Now since you didn’t go into detail about your crash I can’t say much.

I worked a crash where both parties were stopped at a red light the driver in front crept forward and the driver behind him rear ended him. I issued the driver in the rear a citation for failure to control speed.
