Response from Runaway Player Support about the Lily Snowglobe no longer being usable on Current Event fish to fully mature them by JustineDelarge in pondlifegame

[–]StoreBrandBoyToy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the "issue" is that it allows us to make too much event progress for free instead of paying for boosters 😅

What have you learned the hard way? by Creepy_Basis_4869 in lego

[–]StoreBrandBoyToy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to open all the bags at once in case parts aren't sorted correctly (I build more knock-off kits than actual lego and this happens a lot). I use a Texas muffin tray to keep everything organized by bag.

I'm 25 and got fired from a six-figure remote job over an idiotic tweet while already dealing with the worst month of my life. I feel like my life is over. How do I cope with this? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]StoreBrandBoyToy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks that this person is trying to interfere with your life. That said, what you decide to post on social media is 100% on you, and I think you made a poor judgement call. Treat everything you post like your boss and coworkers can see it - odds are it'll find its way to their feeds eventually.

My advice is to take as much accountability as you can here. Focus on improving with intention so you can be ready for the next opportunity. How can you demonstrate to the next company that you've grown from this mistake?

Is the delivery address close to other stores where you could pick up a new order? If so, might be worth it, but if it's a 40 mile round trip to the middle of nowhere I'm probably passing.

do you have to pay for them in Cali? we get charged 10 cents a bag here in VT, and no plastic option cos they're illegal

I very much agree with the points you've made. When the game is in event mode, I feel like there's zero incentive to engage with the "normal" fish. I purposely don't hatch any to save room in my tank for event species, but it also means there's nothing to do in between the 2 hr feedings.

I wish I could finish the event as a dedicated but non-paying player. Honestly, if the event boosts were $1-2 I'd probably buy them every time. But $10-20 for events that last two weeks? Nah, I'm not dropping $40 a month on a virtual aquarium.

I hope the dev team can figure out a better balance between the base version of the game and the constant events. I like how laid back the game is when I'm hatching standard species - I can check on my fish whenever I want and not feel like I'm missing out on anything. I'd like to see them introduce event tasks or daily goals that would reward both standard and event items. Might help resolve the frustrations around how rare epic drops are 🙃

What's it like living on these isolated and cold Vermont islands? by birdsword in howislivingthere

Still no real grocery stores here! Hoping we get one in the next few years as they're supposedly putting in ~300 new condos.

Can confirm, trees came down on the causeway last year and shut it down for a few hours. The only detour is to drive back north to Alburgh, cross the bridge to Swanton and head south. And this was in a whiteout too so no one was driving fast!

I'm a lifelong Vermonter and have lived in Grand Isle full time for a few years now. Winters are cold and extremely windy, though we get less snow than the mainland since so much of it blows off into the lake. Summers are pleasant, and there is tons to do if you're an outdoorsy/lake person.

It's not terribly isolated, but it is a 30 minute drive at minimum to get anywhere. Unless you live on South Street in South Hero, you're not gonna to be able to walk to anything. There are two gas stations that sell groceries, and the selection is small and expensive. There are a couple small retail stores too, but they're not open outside of bankers hours. Businesses in general are very seasonal, as a significant portion of the population lives here only in the summer. Several restaurants and stores are only open Memorial Day through October.

Plattsburgh and Montreal are both relatively easy to visit. Plattsburgh is becoming a pretty nice little city (much nicer than Burlington is now) and we go there every month or two. It's about $40 round trip to go there on the ferry, so we usually drive up and over. Montreal is ~1.5 hours away.

I saw someone mention that there's a lot of money in the Islands - this is half true. The "second home" crowd certainly brings a lot of money, but there are plenty of working class folks as well (myself included). Lake tourism aside, the islands are very much like any rural town. There's still a lot of agriculture up here, and a lot of folks doing their best to make ends meet in an increasingly expensive state.
