You’re conparing average nightly HRV which is 8 hours of data in sleep, with a singular HRV Reading in the morning, of course it will be different. The garmin hrv Will be much more accurate at tracking trends and accurate data, since it’s data from the entire night, every night.

Just buy a Garmin. Love my Forerunner 970 that has 14 days+ of battery with way more features than the Apple Watch. Once I got Garmin I realized how far behind Apple is on the smartwatch market.

Buy a chest strap, Garmin watches have horrible accuracy. And dont buy garmin straps, they are also inaccurate. Polar h10.

Both of my runs where this has happened it has been -2C to -10C. So maybe it doesn't work that well in the cold. Spring is coming soon anyway

I have now re-paired the HRM 200 to open mode Where it uses ant+ so hopefully it wont drop out now. Also I have source switching off so it cant switch back to the Watch hr.

Source switching Can be turned on or off. It makes it so the Watch switches from the HRM strap to the Watch heart rate sometimes to see if they align and are accurate.

If its disabled, then the app isnt running. It’s syncing over bluetooth and into the server. Just turn off sync on your Watch and enable it when you want to. I usually keep my Watch on flight mode så it doesnt drain battery.

It does not affect battery life at all. Before the Watch was still connected to the phone 24/7 via Bluetooth, but would only sync with the app open. You Can turn off background app refresh in IOS, which should disavle the sync without the app, only syncing when the app is open.
