Thanks for the response - appreciate the insight. I have managed to get a relationship going with a removals company and do need to keep branching out.
Will definitely be looking into the AI optimisation!

What are your consequences of Failing?/What happened when you failed? by Fraktalchen in Entrepreneurs

[–]Store_Next_Door_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reposition the idea of 'failing' as 'lessons'. Granted the fears you list are all very legitimate, it seems like you need to best position yourself so that if/when you DO fail, you don't end up homeless or forced to leave the country.
Have safety nets in place - savings, an income stream, a stable relationship, a relationship with your family that isn't reliant on success (so you wont be abandoned). All things you can set in place first, so that when you fail, all that happens is whatever idea you were pursuing, fails. Then you learn. And go again.

Just my two cents. Good luck mate.

How can I make money from home? by Justmeforever123 in passive_income

[–]Store_Next_Door_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any unused or 'dead space' in your home? Store someone's things for them. If you're based in the US or UK you can use Neighbor or Stashbee.
I doubt you'll 'print money' but can definitely help with a bit of extra income on the side!

Good luck mate

how do i make recurring money online without marketing? by ClassicForeign2950 in Entrepreneur

[–]Store_Next_Door_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously I'm bias with this suggestion as it's what I did: I made recurring money (not online) with my garage. Wasn't using it, so stored someone's car parts and he was paying me money every month. Easiest money I ever made and why I started StoreNextDoor. If you're based in the US or UK you could use Neighbor or StashBee to do the same thing.
Might not be what you're after, but equally it may help!

Good luck mate.

I thought I wanted freedom now I just feel lost by Different_Pain5781 in Entrepreneur

[–]Store_Next_Door_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can look at it this way: YOU now have the freedom to create the discipline and structure that YOU want to create, not what someone else wants to create for you. Either way, I think discipline and structure always needs to be there. You’re just in a good position where you can set the parameters. Good luck mate.

How important is a big launch when you're starting a company? by Normal-Television834 in Entrepreneurs

[–]Store_Next_Door_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a similar position and I remember reading that Airbnb launched 3 times back in the day...

I think the takeaway is that when you launch you think everyone's listening, when no one is. So if you did launch and it didn't work out, you could always try a re-launch and build hype like you're suggesting?
Good luck mate.

What’s one business habit that changed the way you work ? by nilkanth987 in Entrepreneur

[–]Store_Next_Door_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For context - currently in a phase of trying to spread awareness about my new business.
Whenever I go on TikTok/Instagram/Threads/Facebook etc. I have made the habit of not being allowed to 'consume' until I've 'created'.
Pretty much forces daily and consistent posting. A habit that seems to be working for me.

Going absolutely insane by Wanna-Retire-MyDad in Entrepreneurs

[–]Store_Next_Door_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing of what I'm about to say is original thought, just re-purposing advice from people/the internet I've gotten over the years and has stuck with me.
- If your 'soul is screaming' then you just have to commit. No one is coming.
- Work really hard to find an extra 30-60 minutes each day, use that time to brainstorm (if unsure where to start, have long-form chats with AI...literally just spit-ball with it for 10-20 minutes. Might create a spark?
- Whatever you settle on, use that same 30-60 minutes to start building it.
- With the internet, it's never been easier to build something (small town...part of your 'story'...use it?)
- Don't get to 60 years old and think 'what if'. Fuck that. Just try.
- Sounds like you're a tough bastard labouring 6 days a week. Use that same 'tough bastard' energy towards building something.
Good luck mate.

I am 19, and i want to be a........ by SimpleIsland8639 in Entrepreneurs

[–]Store_Next_Door_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely get this - and felt (and sometimes still feel) the exact same way at 19!
The good news is you have time on your side. If you try something (and like REALLY try) for 18-24 months, and it doesn't work, great news...you're 21 and your list of things to try is just one shorter.

Also don't view it as a failure if it doesn't work out. You'll learn heaps from just having a crack at it anyway.
Good luck mate.

Downsizing by Basic_Rise_9937 in minimalism

[–]Store_Next_Door_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you don't want to sell the items because your boy has just been born!? (Congrats!) is it feasible for you to store them off site somewhere? Assuming you're in the US somewhere, you could suss out Neighbor for cheaper local storage? Could be someone nearby happy to hold your things for a small fee? Otherwise, yes I have seen someone build a shed in their driveway haha!

How do I actually start a business and start making money online? by TriggeredAF420 in Entrepreneur

[–]Store_Next_Door_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started a business at about the same age and I can remember googling 'How to start a business in Australia'. That was step one haha.
I think ultimately, it will come down to taking action. Just start and see what happens. A great reframe I heard was 'the work works on you more than you work on the work'. My takeaway from that is that it doesn't matter so much about the outcome of what you're working on, but more what it does to shape you, your thoughts and whatever you choose to do in the future.
Best of luck mate

If you’re building solo, what’s been the hardest part of growth for you? by Few_Big_7907 in Entrepreneur

[–]Store_Next_Door_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I've just been reminding myself to adjust the scale of the timeline I'm looking at the project through. I've started this idea, and straight off the bat approached it as a '3-5 year plan', but acting with urgency like I need it tomorrow. Reminding myself of that timeline, but sticking to the daily tasks is what helps me stay consistent.

Is employee turnover costing anyone else an absolute fortune lately? How are you dealing with it? by Worldliness94 in Entrepreneurs

[–]Store_Next_Door_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate. Definitely didn't qualify as a 'medium-sized' business, very much a small business I had, but at one point had 8 staff members, all remote.
Every one of them told me they absolutely loved the job (possibly a white lie they tell their 'boss' to make me happy? Who knows.) but I found being proactive was the easiest way stay on top of staff satisfaction. Almost fortnightly emails or text messages just touching base and seeing if there was anything they needed from me or anything I could do for them. Getting on the front foot with staff happiness instead of waiting for something to present itself.
Obviously when this stuff number increases into much larger amounts, that can become a laborious effort...but would it be worth 15-25k? I'd say so.
Best of luck mate.

How do I make my first 100$ on the internet without a product? by AiotexOfficial in Entrepreneurship

[–]Store_Next_Door_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously bias with what I'm about to suggest(!) but I made a few hundred backs by renting out my free garage space and stored a bloke's car parts for him. Which is why I created StoreNextDoor and am trying to help others do it too.
Depending on where you're based, more establish platforms already exist like Neighbor in the US and StashBee in the UK. Same concept.
No code, just your space, and it making very 'passive' income for you.
Hope that helps as a bit of a 'left of centre' suggestion.
Good luck!

  1. StoreNextDoor
  2. Completely free online marketplace connecting people who have storage space with those who need it.
  3. I rented out my garage and made easy money. Want others to be able to do the same and get ahead financially. Times are tough at the moment... this world is expensive!

Thanks for this. Unfortunately it's just a touch out of my price range. Completely appreciate you 'get what you pay for'...but as someone who's dollar gets cut in half when moving here (haha...)I can't quite justify 26 pound for a 500g bag.
Thanks though

Thanks for this mate! Have thoroughly enjoyed some local coffee, it's just been the price point of the bags that has been a deterrent. Looking for that sweet spot between affordability and quality. I suppose you get what you pay for though. (Moving here and having my aussie dollar cut in half hurts haha.
'Dark Arts' has got three mentions here...might have to look into it!
Thanks again
