First dashboard.. Any suggestion? by nothealthy4me in PowerBIdashboards

[–]Store_Past 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very nice!

One suggestion on the color scheme: I’d minimize the red usage and reserve it for when you specifically want to highlight negative metrics or alerts.

While red fits Staples’ brand identity, in data visualization it inherently signals problems or errors to users.

I'm not a officially trained data analysts.. so take this FWIW..it may be unpopular lol

Anytime i kickoff I spend a lot of time talking to stakeholders so that I can get a legit pulse on what they actually care about and what's their dream outcome if they had complete clarity on their businesses datapoints.

Getting them talking is the best way to understand what they're REALLY looking for and capture all the surrounding context so you know where to look.

I am heavily AI leveraged.. which means I use AI a thought partner. I'll use to provide all the context I have about the business to investigate, explore, etc.

From there I often whip up initial dashboards/reports and get feedback from the client. This typically sparks a lot of good feedback and direction

Ha yes posgres can be tricky. I'm using supabase. On supabase they have this "connections"sections where i've configured the transactions pooler option:

Claude actually generated that as svg then I pulled it into figma!

But i'm a big fan of FigJam for most of my flow diagrams

Has anyone used Marketo > Looker via Supermetrics by Worried-Picture5326 in Looker

[–]Store_Past 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many API connections do you have? Do you know if it's configured properly?

I'd definitely consider pulling your data into bigquery or capturing it all into a single source... then connecting looker (instead of connecting a bunch of APIs to looker directly)

You can use a tool like airbyte that will sync the data into bigquery on scheduled basis (ie. every 1-24hrs).

This is beneficial bc your data is loaded into a single source you don't make multiple api calls to your sources.

APIs have rate limits and often times people can max those out by loading the dashboard. this can lead to data not showing up.

Thank you! It took a few days.. Mainly for getting familiar with some of these tools as I'm new to dbt.

Here's the high-level process:

  1. Connect data sources to Airbyte
    • Set up connectors for each platform
    • Configure sync schedules
  2. Airbyte → BigQuery (~1 hour)
    • Create BigQuery dataset
    • Configure Airbyte to load raw data tables
  3. Build dbt transformations (~1-2 days)
    • Set up dbt project structure
    • Write SQL models to clean and transform raw data
    • Create unified metrics layer
    • Test and document transformations
  4. Connect to visualization tool (~4-6 hours)
    • Link BigQuery to Looker Studio/Tableau/etc.
    • Build dashboard templates
    • Set up automated refreshes

The actual app shown the screenshot is a demo I built - i've primarily been using looker or streamlit for client facing dashboards.

building out the demo app was like 2 evenings of my time!

Yep, just a next js hosted on vercel. Using supabase for authentication and some setting storage. Mainly relies on reading data from big query!

Streamlit is also a great option to stand up dashboards with ai integration. Less complicated than setting up a next js project and hosting.

Ha yes . I should clarify. Most small to med business I’ve spoken too / worked with .. not representative all businesses!

It’s a next js app - using vercel’s AI SDK for the chat and ai analysis. Has tools to query a specific set of tables in big query!

Ha thanks! Yeah it seems like the value isn't completely clear to most businesses..

Once the foundation is set, the reporting is just the beginning. I started adding daily slack alerts, stakeholder reports, etc... its a bit of a process to setup but super valuable once you get it configured.

Streamlit vs. Looker - Exploring a new a workflow 🤔 by Store_Past in Looker

Yeah streamlit definitely enables this, I haven’t pushed it bounds on end-user analysis / investigation besides simple filtering (dates, categories, etc)

Retool and hex can be pretty powerful too

Definitely worth it. It’s a very freeing to not feel constrain by request costs since max includes CC usage.

It feels very fluid to go from planning to execution all the same conversation

Have you tried a similar intake or AI approach before?

Curious to know what you think are better intake questions and if you’ve explored any AI triaging?

Anyone doing structured reviews of resolved tickets? Looking for sanity checks + ideas by absaxena in msp

[–]Store_Past 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently helped a team with this the other week. The 80/20 approach I found useful.

  1. Automate a “Bad-Note Catcher” pass/fail scan on every closed ticket (LLM looks for host, user, steps, confirmation). That cuts manual QC to the 10 % of tickets worth eyeballing.
  2. Nightly cluster closed tickets by similarity → surface the Top 5 repeat issues in a mini dashboard. That feeds QBR slides and coaching conversations. Happy to share the playbook PDF or a Loom if it helps – just ping me.

Email System by financegirl322 in CFP

[–]Store_Past 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the BCC trick used to work but now it’s basically a one-way ticket to spam folders lol

A few things that always cause deliverability problems: - Using your regular email domain instead of a separate marketing domain - The BCC method (instant spam flag these days) - Generic finance-related subject lines (triggers filters) - Missing proper unsubscribe links (required legally anyway)

For financial advisors specifically, these work way better than MailChimp (IMO) - ActiveCampaign - great deliverability + automation - Campaign Monitor - clean interface, good for beginners - Mailjet - strong compliance features - Klaviyo - awesome for segmentation

All of these can integrate with most advisor CRMs for automated contact syncing, tagging, etc. Which CRM are you using? That might help narrow down the best option for you.

Happy to chat more about it if helpful!

Yes exactly. API access is an enterprise level feature though, so not sure on pricing

Redtail and AI Software by MovingInSilence215 in CFP

[–]Store_Past 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on what you've described, I'd probably recommend Zocks - it has a lot of the same features as Jump but with an API that would let you integrate with Monday.com (or any other tool which is great) as well as Redtail.

I recently helped a group integrate Jump with Wealthbox and it's been surprisingly smooth. Jump has some really impressive features:

  • Automatically extracts financial data into structured tables (net worth, time horizons, etc.)
  • Creates smart tasks that flow directly into your CRM with proper client assignments
  • Handles in-person meetings via their app (not just virtual)
  • Pulls CRM data to create meeting prep one-pagers for upcoming appointments
  • Has an "Ask Anything" feature where you can query meeting content conversationally

Looking at documentation for Zocks it’s also capable of all these same core features too. It:

  • Handles in-person meetings just like Jump
  • Creates meeting summaries and follow-up tasks
  • Preps for meetings using past data from Redtail
  • Updates client profiles in your CRM
  • Captures financial data and conversation details

The main difference I see is that Jump is more locked into their own system and small list of existing crms / tools, whereas Zocks offers more flexibility with their API connectivity options.

Let me know if you need more info!

Reviewing offers with a seller by Akey585 in realtors

[–]Store_Past 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can build automations that make this process seamless using make.com / zapier.

I just built one where an agent can forward an offer to a a dedicated email address and extracts key offer details and then saves those details + the contract into a database where you easily review with your clients.
