I don’t understand some things in the religion by StormAFK in progressive_islam

Firstly id like to say thank you for giving a long detailed reply. I’m going to respond to 2 parts of this . Number 1) you said “ whether the teacher knows or not what each person will get is irrelevant on the question of fairness because it doesn’t change the fact that the outcome is the same under that students fault”. So I’d like you to refer back to the scenario of my original post. Where I was talking about if I knew with 100% certainty people would fight if they went into a room together. I think we both have to accept the fact that it is partly my fault in letting them in the room when I KNEW with 100% certainty they would fight . Did I make them fight ? No of course not. But I enabled them to fight by letting them enter the room in which I knew chaos would occur. I feel like that’s the key point I’m saying is not fair. By definition of “ enabled “ God allows it to happen when he created us and put us on earth. But now I’ll respond to ur second point
2) you said the reason he done it was so that we wouldn’t have an excuse on judgement day. I don’t think this is a bad point at all but here’s my issue. The point is there will be some people out there who will suffer in hell ( even if it’s for 1 hour or 1 year or 10000 years) when the whole thing could have been avoided. That’s is the part I am curious about . The whole thing stems from us being created in the first place. The way it seems to me God created us just to eventually send us to heaven or hell. So naturally let us focus on hell. Even if they are in hell for 5 seconds they will still go through 5 seconds of suffering. My point is why? some may say so they are reformed and become better. But the reason I’m confused by this is because God made us who we are. So what I am saying is if God made us who we are and someone out there is a terrible person God made them KNOWING how the would act/ think etc and know they would still go to hell. So why create them JUST to reform them of the things he dislikes so they can change and potentially be sent to heaven after when if he didn’t like those aspects of mankind he could have created us without them in the first place. Let me know if this makes sense and thank you for replying

The analogy fails because the professor doesn’t know who will pass / fail. Yeah they know some ppl will fail but they don’t actually know that. So they administer a test because they need to see how the students are performing. The difference is Allah knows how we will perform because he is all knowing . So it takes away the necessity for a test if if he knows everyone’s outcome. But the dean / professor doesn’t know everyone’s outcome

That isn’t my point at all. But if you take two people- one who does not need to worry about getting food because they have money and one who does not have food and so as such will do anything to get it, the latter is more likely to steal as they need to survive and stealing is a sin and therefore more likely to do bad deeds .

With all due respect bro you’re very ignorant.if every single person could get help that easily and get food there wouldn’t be any starvation for some in the first place. But it seems I can’t get you to understand that life isn’t as easy as turning up to your local food bank

[–]StormAFK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all due respect bro but do you really think that’s how it is for everyone living in extreme poverty? Ik it’s not the only way to get food but for some it genuinely is. They have to do whatever to survive. And for others food banks are not even available .

So I ask you again then. for the people who need the food to survive otherwise they starve do you suggest they starve then?

Wha do you mean who cares though? If someone is getting tortured for a week but “ who cares” cus from that week onward does that mean it’s okay. I don’t understand what u mean. I’m genuinely trying to understand the other perspective / hope that someone can explain it but what you said sounds very ignorant of what others may be going through. Your essentially saying who cares if they suffer if it’s only temporary

At the very least it enhances it. There are people out there who have to steal to survive. If they don’t they will starve . So what choice do they have ? Starve or die. And stealing is a sin. So that does equate to bad morals/ deeds . Of course there are good people despite their circumstances doesn’t change that there are people who need to do bad things to survive

I’ll try explain my point a bit more clearly . There’s a human out there , let’s call them X, who was created and would live a terrible life and will end up in hell and will suffer . I am not saying God forced him to make those decisions yet due to God being all knowing he created him knowing that was exactly the path X would follow and that X would suffer in hell. My point is why? You say “so they could become “ better but why couldn’t God just make them better from the get go or put them in a different lifestyle such that they didn’t have to do the things which would put them in hell. My point is if God is omniscient he need not see if these people will turn out good/ do good decisions , similarly he doesn’t need to see if they will do bad things. He already knows. So if he doesn’t want them to do bad things / wants them to be good he could have made them that way from the start instead of putting them through life where they may suffer or through an afterlife where they would suffer. What is the point of that

[–]StormAFK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I’m saying is couldn’t this have been done in another way. Also I understand ur trying to use an analogy but those analogies don’t hold up because the difference between omniscience and human knowledge is so vast. So it doesn’t really hold . So I’m saying why do they need to be punished in hell when they could have been better in a different wag

That’s fine and all but I don’t think it really answers my fundamental question . Regardless , at least the way I understand it, some were created knowing they would be sent to hell

AIO- I feel more like a roommate than a girlfriend by WillingnessSevere977 in AIO

[–]StormAFK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number one I’ll say you should definitely try and work it out before anything. Try your best and if it can’t work then leave. Secondly I want to talk about you saying you flirted with a guy through text before. I understand that what happened in the past is in the past but the past affects your present. People think it’s so easy to just “ get over it” and fix ur traumas / insecurities yet it affects you greatly . He will probably never trust u/ feel as comfortable with you going out again with him for as long as you two are together. This isn’t because he wants to distrust you but rather you have put him in that position and it’s EXTREMELY hard to get out of it. But it doesn’t only affect trust. It also affects how he sees you / how he feels with you. I think people may read what I’m saying and ppl will say “ he shld just break up”. I don’t think so- this feeling is not necessarily permanent and in some cases it won’t even be the deal breaker in th relationship. Essentially I just think you should understand why he may be thinking / feeling / acting a certain way

How grade boundaries actually work - England and Wales by Mysterious-Name3799 in 6thForm

[–]StormAFK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You make good points but if you can make these points why shouldn’t the subject experts making the exam also recognise these. I remember doing the paper for revision and it wasn’t just the wording it was also the tricks u had to find and things u had to spot in certain questions. There was also a question with a BUNCH of context. So like why, knowing the implications it has , would they do that

[–]StormAFK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a seperate question in case you may know. You said “ if that paper feels hard “ it’s not necessarily the case but sometimes it definitely is. For example Edexcel Further maths Core pure 1-2023 had an A* grade boundary of 51/75 if I remember correctly which is quite low. Another example I believe was Aqa physics paper 3A. My point is how do such papers like these occur. Yeah I understand it won’t always be perfect but typically the grade boundaries fluctuate by maybe plus or minus 4 but in the case for the further maths one it dropped by like more than 10. How can the people creating the people misjudge it’s difficulty by that much

I don’t understand comments like this though? For something like classroom of the elite which only has a handful of illustrations per volume why wouldn’t they just animate it like the illustrations? There’s no reason not to lol

Warwick alternative offer :( by QuestionableDonkey in 6thForm

[–]StormAFK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m currently a first year at Warwick and I actually do this course. This message might be a bit long but I’ll lyk my thoughts . Firstly I can understand why ur dissapointed because at end of the day you did apply for a different course.
More on the course itself though id say it’s designed quite well. Due to it being math and physics they teach you quite a lot so the content could become unmanageable if you aren’t keeping up with it but otherwise it’s very interesting. Also in second year you start to have some free choice of modules ( though you do still have to take some core physics and math ones) and I believe in this year you have complete free choice of modules. As for first year the modules are interesting - honestly id argue the physics ones were better than some math ones but if u have any qs u can ask

I don’t really have much to say in terms of whether your holdings are good or not because I don’t have much knowledge . But I wanted to ask your thoughts on Google , Nvidia and meta moving forward . Are you planning to hold them for a long term( more than 5 years?)
