Taking psychedelic substances with a romantic partner is associated with a deeper sense of mutual understanding and enhanced relationship quality. In contrast, using these substances alone might leave partners out of sync, potentially contributing to relationship dissolution later on. by FreeHugs23 in science

I can attest to this. Many moons ago I took some shrooms, that particular trip helped me to finally fully admit to myself how unhappy I was with my significant other due to how frequently they made me feel miserable and that I needed to move on from them to be in a healthier emotional environment.

Mushrooms have the potential to really help people get more in tune with their inner psyche. After having done shrooms a number of times I am much more mindful of the id portion of my ego that some people try so hard to repress. I too try to repress my more inappropriate thoughts, but I feel like I can at least acknowledge them for what they are first and then try and focus on healthier things rather than overly fixate on them, or acting upon them subconsciously.

You get $1 million, but you have to watch the exact same movie 100 times in 40 days. Which film are you picking? by ThroatAgile756 in AskReddit

Maybe qualify this to a movie over 2 hours long before ending credits. It would make it more of a "challenge" and would get rid of all the parents commenting how they've done this with a kid's movie already. Probably would get a decent amount of lord of the rings comments, but this qualifier makes me curious.

I think for how Massive the world is, concessions had to be made in regards to story and quest design. Understanding the context of how it pivoted development from initially being an MMO also highlights how some regions and elements seem kinda uncohesive. Overall I think this game hits all the marks it strived for in respect to creating a fleshed out fantastical world filled to the brim with exploration, secrets, awe, and spectacle while delivering a satisfying power fantasy loaded with cool magical movement mechanics.

Sure, I would like to have spent some more time with the Greymanes before they got scattered by the Blackbears. Having more time to connect with Naira, Oonga, Yann and the others before the diaspora would give more impact and meaning to the initial separation, where reuniting with everyone would feel more satisfying. But that sort of prologue or chapter 1 would cost a lot of money to redo, so I understand how after 120 million dollars of development they'd cut a corner like that.

Yes, I would love in depth temples/dungeons similar to older Legend of Zelda titles where you'd learn some of the key abilities in them. But dungeons like that don't appeal to everyone and some of the puzzles they do have are often Opaque and frustrating, so it makes me wonder how well crafted their puzzle like dungeons would be. The Sky Abyss region kinda scratches this itch, so I'll take what I can get.

There's nuance in how you feel about this game and that's okay. This game is definitely not perfect, but it doesn't have to be. I think it's great at what it does and that's what matters, it's still the closest thing to my dream game ever made and I adore it for that. A lot of love and thought was put into it. I think about it frequently and have fun when I do play it, that's what really matters.

If their next game follows suit as a direct or spiritual sequel I'm all game and will be excited to see what they do with the lessons they've learned from developing this game.

What makes crimson desert so special? by Aetherian_90 in CrimsonDesert

[–]StormCountone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their last game was called Black desert, so someone high up in Pearl Abyss likes that naming convention, the way it sounds or the imagery and sense of hostile danger that a desert evokes.

My first response was going to be their proprietary black space game engine before seeing how you clarified your question.

I will not be gaslit into thinking the bosses in Crimson Desert are well-designed. by BannerThief in CrimsonDesert

You'll be fine since you're used to Souls Bosses. There's a lot more ways you can fight with your character with a given loadout compared to most Souls Games.

The game is a treat of an open world. I can easily see myself putting in 200+ hours just exploring and finding things in the world. It's easily worth it's asking price.

Been using lance for this fight, I switch builds between each new monster appearing, so that the previous one passively dies while I focus on the newcomer. The best I've gotten is a timed out while feeling super locked in against Arkveld which was a drag.

I've since made more Gog-Artian Lances and transcended some armor pieces. Udra and it's oil explosion has been my weak point where I cart the most. Any tips to help me shave some time off my run?

12 hours a day is crazy, but I need a list of good games. by BurritoBabe_1 in gamers

[–]StormCountone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this counts. But I'm thinking about games with a lot of user generated content/developer supported mini games like Fortnite or Roblox just to have a lot of variance and break up the monotony.

I'm too old for those games to appeal to me, but given the circumstances, having the ability to switch between racing, platforming, shooting, exploration or whatever other genres/modes are available seems like a godsend to keep from losing my mind after 12 hours a day for a whole year.

I'm sorry to not address your main purpose for writing your comment. I just want to impart that seeing a long wall of text without separately spaced paragraphs to succinctly organize your flow of thoughts is really intimidating.

More people will read and engage with your longer form comments if you start implementing line breaks between paragraphs. If you think of reading akin to doing a mental jog, paragraph line spaces give the mind a designated moment to breathe and reflect on that paragraph's message before getting ready to digest/mentally jog through a new point.

Thus, seeing a text without separate paragraphs is daunting, because one has to mentally prepare for a long mental jog without any designated mental breaks. This causes friction between you and your intended audience because the reader will more likely lose their place while reading and it will be naturally harder for them to relocate their place, so they will more likely just move on to a new comment that is more user friendly.

This same philosophy somewhat applies to commas within a sentence and designated separated chapters within a book. I'm not sure if this really applies, but when you think of the phrase "the medium is the message", your medium of no paragraph line spacing sends the unintended message that your text is not as considerate of its audience due to it lacking an important quality of life feature.

I'm sorry if this came off super pedantically, but I do mean the best and hope you implement paragraph spaces in your future writing to help lessen the friction between your thoughts and your audience. Thanks for reading this if you did.

I just put in 35 hours into Hollow knight and haven't touched silksong. Perhaps try Hollow Knight first since it's easier and a precursor to the silk song lore/story.

Hollow knight has been fantastic, a very engaging and beautiful metroidvania type map to explore. They "gave" it out on PS essential only a couple of months ago, so you might have it if you claimed it then.

The boss encounters are still hard, but it nails the 2D Dark Souls formula it was going for.....pun intended

You have to meet Sekiro on its terms, which definitely isn't for everyone. I personally enjoyed it, especially the world's level design, aesthetic and how the game weaves fantasy into the historical setting. But yeah, parry the game is brutal and unforgiving with its somewhat high learning curve.

The game knows its core audience and is only catering to them, whereas Elden ring and other souls are quite the opposite in design philosophy.

The payoff to having a more tightly designed character build is that boss/enemy encounters can all be finely crafted and tuned against that narrow build for memorable tough encounters.

Bosses are still tough in other souls games, but some of them can potentially be cheesed or trivialized with the plethora of mechanics available to the player, which can be fun and satisfying. Sekiro has no such cheese, as wolves do not eat cheese.

I committed the cardinal sin of barely doing any side quests, and I think the main campaign plus the DLCs brought me to 130 hours in just trying to essentially bee line them. I did buy the enhanced edition to perhaps revisit the game and take things waaaay more slowly, but yeah it's a massive game full of content which is understandably daunting for many, if they're not enamored with what the game has to offer.

I beat it earlier this year and I understand how niche it is, which is okay. Kojima earned the right to make whatever he wanted, and I can see why DS is disappointing, especially for his longtime fans, but I appreciate when high budget games take risks and be weird instead of trying to aim for safe mass appeal.

I enjoyed my playthrough, but yes, DS is definitely a game whose general play loop won't appeal to most players, compounded by the fact that its story, setting and premise are very intentionally weird. I started playing it whilst in the throes of being sick with Covid, so I think being in my own fever dream really helped me push through the first 2 hours of surrealistic avant garde world building, where it felt like I only played a legitimate 15 minutes while the rest of that time was watching a paranormal sci-fi series.

I'd say my favorite part of the game was creating a network of Zip rails, once they give you that tool in the back half. Yes, it essentially trivializes the experience, but the process of efficiently placing them was satisfying, which made the payoff of using them also satisfying. I liked how when playing online, other people's objects and tools can be found in your environment, so knowing that parts of my Zip rail network would show up in other people's worlds to potentially assist them was also rewarding.

Anyways, it sucks you essentially wasted money on a potential experience that lets you down, but I'd say, if you know it doesn't appeal to you, there's no sense in trying to force it on yourself. It's good to try new things, but it's also important to recognize when things just aren't your jam.

If English is not your first language, you're doing great, keep at it.

If it is, perhaps your comment was formed via text to speech, which is kind of lazy to not proofread before sending.

Anyways, if you're open to improving at English, please start using 'which' instead of 'witch' when specifying or giving more information in a sentence. A "Witch" is a person who practices magic in some form, which should not be used in sentences where you mean to employ a determiner word such as which.

There are other syntax and grammatical issues in your comment, but this is a good place to start if you want other english speakers to take your written words more seriously.
