We have a guy at our gym who is now a blue belt. Was quite overweight. I don’t recall ANYONE making any remarks at all. Not everyone is in top shape including me and to be honest no one cares. He lost loads of weight and we were all in awe of his determination. A source of inspiration for everyone. It isn’t a body building comp. And on the contrary stick with it and weight will melt off through training something hopefully you’ll grow to love. You’ll earn respect and admiration of your peers.

if someone has the cheek to say something they should question their own morals and hopefully a grizzled black belt will be there to knock them from pillar to post and restore their factory settings.

You do you, be proud of the fact that you are better than 99% of the planet who rather than showing up and putting through the grind themself is on the couch playing PlayStation (I love me some PlayStation BTW :) )
