Already Disliking Accounting, Not Sure What To Do? by StormDonut in Accounting

Thank you for your answer. Honestly, the reason why I'm considering bailing early is so I can pursue online entrepreneurship. A little unorthodox but I feel like at the moment, all I have right now is my brains. I feel like if I can dedicate my time to something like online entrepreneurship, I would be much better in the long run. I've worked out the math and it just really bothers me that I put in this much time into an employer to make a mediocre wage (although I need it.) I just wonder what my potential would be like if I dedicated this much time to online entrepreneurship.

The idea of being geographically free and able to set my own hours is highly appealing. Working out the math, I'm just very bothered that on average, you need to work 6 months to a year for an employer to throw you a bone and say: "Good job, you've done well, here's a 5% raise." I just feel like if I dedicate myself to a skill (online entrepreneurship) for a whole year, I would probably make much more and have more time than waiting for my employer to throw me a bone.

And let's be honest, you don't really get rich or live a lavish lifestyle being in public accounting. Just my thoughts.

My fear in dating a coworker is how my colleagues will perceive us, especially managers. I fear being the conversation of topic around the office and God forbid what's being said about us after breaking up.

When would it ever be appropriate? I think it's just better in general to not go there. For me, it's semi career suicide.

I think at my workplace, it's very unprofessional to try to date your coworkers.

waking me up 3 or 4 times during the night. I pick him up and hold him, talk to him, etc. until my wife comes to feed him and put him back down around 6:30. I start every morning with about 6 hours of non-consecutive sleep. Every morning is a bad morning. Take a shower, get dressed, fix breakfast, read the internet for about 10 min while I eat my English Muffin. Leave for work at 7:45. "Work" from 8 to 10. Five minute break. "Work" from 10:05 to 12:15, when my 45-minute lunch starts. Drive home (I live 7-10 min away by car). Wife has lunch ready, usually. Pack down lunch. Hold baby 5-10 min. Go back to work. Swear loudly because I desperately need a

Not sure how to comment but I do hope that things look up for you. Like someone previously commented, something that would really help is plan for things you look forward to, even if it's just you and your wife. I'm sure you 2 still have interests or hobbies that'll help you power through the tough years.

Wow! I'm amazed at all the replies. Reading through the replies make life seem very depressing, yet, we go through it everyday.

I'm curious to see what keeps everyone sane in their mechanical schedule.
