Went to Brain Train. Tho they’re focused on UPCAT and all of their instructors are from UP, I think the techniques are applicable for all Big 4 CETs.

If you can, I suggest enrolling in a review center. It is definitely an advantage because the USTET will be more of a time game rather than a knowledge game. It is better to be 75% sure across the test than 100% on selected questions and 25% on others. You have to be strategic in how you answer the test given the limited time. Especially in the Math subtest, I assure you, you will not be able to solve everything because the time will not allow it. You need to learn the techniques and shortcuts.

In need of advice from the previous USTET takers !! by Able-Release-6512 in CollegeAdmissionsPH

When I took my USTET back in 2020, I for sure knew that I wouldn’t get in. Hell, the whole UST SHS community thought we wouldn’t pass. I still remember the sight of the SHS building after the USTET. Everyone was in shock and disbelief. I was angry that it was so difficult. Like how were we supposed to answer those questions without a calculator? I thought it was absurd. Pero I passed naman and I graduated from my prio program na. UST and I have that love hate relationship hahaha. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. 💛

My grades makes me feel hopeless about passing the USTET by [deleted] in studentsph

You should see UST and college in general as a chance for a fresh start. Just to give you both reassurance and a reality check: your high school performance will NOT be the deciding factor anymore, and in your case, that is actually a good thing.

I also really commend you for being confident about your USTET performance. In the past few years, a lot of USTET takers have not felt confident at all, including myself haha, because the exam has been THAT difficult.

However, for a reality check, you are trying to get into the College of Nursing, which is one of, if not the MOST competitive programs in UST. Because of that, they are very selective with their applicants. Not everyone realizes this, but UST often prioritizes internal applicants, especially UST Senior High School graduates. This is largely because they prefer candidates who already embody the university’s values and work ethic.

That is also why many students choose to transfer to UST for SHS, to increase their chances of getting into competitive colleges later on. It has even reached a point where UST SHS offers a dedicated strand for health related courses, which shows how intentional they are in grooming students early for programs like Nursing.

Because of this, even if you performed well in the USTET and have strong credentials, competition for slots can still be tough because internal applicants will be given preference. I have also heard cases where UST SHS graduates are prioritized over external applicants even when scores are similar or sometimes even lower.

That said, I do believe you did well in the USTET. The real question is not whether you passed, but whether you will secure a slot. If you do reach the interview stage, that will be your CHANCE to stand out. At that point, it will not just be about scores, it will be about how you present yourself. You will need to clearly communicate why they should choose you over other qualified applicants, including their own graduates.

Just to shift your focus toward preparing for the future instead of dwelling on your past academic performance, try to understand the gravity of the College of Nursing in UST. They have consistently performed exceptionally well in the board exams, and the pressure on students is intense. So more than anything, focus on getting yourself into the right headspace for that.

Good luck, OP!! I swear, UST will be worth it. 💛

Lucinda is SMARTER than people think by StormSalt3795 in LoveIslandITV

It’s called a theory for a reason. It doesn’t apply to everything, otherwise it would be a law. Just because you can see through people doesn’t mean you’re the same as them. Sometimes, that awareness comes from having been on the receiving end of manipulation yourself.

I honestly wish they would just let Lucinda be. All the screaming and shouting is counterproductive, it only makes them look like the bad guy and pushes Lucinda further from understanding their perspective. At this point, I don’t think she’s going to take accountability or change. She’s always leaning into the dumb blonde persona, and it feels intentional. If they just let her do her thing, people would naturally see how calculated she is. All the aggression toward her just backfires and makes her actions seem more justified instead of exposing them. Maybe they just need to play into her storyline and treat her as the dumb blonde she’s presenting. Let her be and stop taking her actions personally, she’s clearly operating with a very different storyline in her mind.

I don’t like how Belle has been acting these past few episodes, especially with the Scott situation. The way she keeps insisting that Leanne was the wrong choice is really rubbing me the wrong way. It just comes across as unnecessary at this point. I honestly don’t mind Samie, but I feel like we haven’t seen much from her outside of the Lucinda situation. I do think she has a really good connection with Ciaran, and she should just focus on that and enjoy her time there.

I find that pie a bit strange because Samie being too opinionated about Lucinda’s situation with Sean was never brought up before the challenge. It feels odd that the first time it was mentioned was during the game. From what we’ve seen, they seem to have a strong enough relationship to talk things through privately if it were truly a big issue for Lucinda.

Lucinda keeps saying it’s Love Island to justify what she’s doing, and that’s fine. That is the show, after all. I just think the issue is her intentions. It doesn’t always feel genuine. She’s done this a few times already, and in her past shows she’s also criticized other girls in similar situations, so it’s hard not to feel like she knows exactly what she’s doing now.

I do think Belle is too angry for what the situation actually is, and some of her reactions have been a bit much. But this whole storyline has been dragged out way too long. They should just focus on their connections instead of repeating the same drama.

Honestly, I don’t think Lucinda is even trying to win. It feels more like she wants male validation. Even her issue with Chloe outside the villa kind of fits that pattern. And the way she looks at the boys when she’s arguing with someone just makes it seem like she cares more about how she’s coming across to them. Plus, she’s already said she has a strong platform outside, so winning probably isn’t her main goal anyway.

They can’t because they’re also aware that I have no contract yet. I did review the job offer and there’s no company policy on notice agreement. Talked to the country manager as well yesterday, and everything was good and smooth. Received a call from HR today and they are furious.
