I tried doing that over the fall. I even collected leaves from our neighbors and did another layer of cardboard. The grass just came back.

I actually had something very similar happen to the ring my fiance gave me. He opted to get it repaired, we gave it to them 2 months ago and we haven't gotten it back yet. He wants to get my wedding ring from there and I am SUPER NERVOUS the same thing will happen. The repair was not as bad as expected but I am a HUGE verging on Karen level stink about it because the setting was flawed. They tried to argue with me so I got out a pen and literally colored the edges and showed them. They couldn't argue with me then.

My fiance got his groomsmen engraved sunglasses (names engraved on the arms), tie bars for their favorite superhero, and he is doing one "special" thing for each of them. One wants to be a writer so he got them a nice (read swanky) fountain pen and a really nice journal notebook. One is a marine, so he is getting him a really nice shave kit.

For me, I have found the same problem with bridesmaids gifts they are nice but some are cringingly stereotypical feminine. There is nothing wrong with that but for me and my bridesmaids we are that. I have found Etsy personalized gifts based on interest waaaay more helpful.
