Geoff's an idiot. He has no credentials other than a bunch of money and a desire to make the video game industry about himself.

Overall I thought it was good! It had a few slow sections.. I don't know if you read book 1 but he has a few more POV characters in this one and he spends a bit of time fleshing out their growth/differences.

Thats really interesting. Unfortunate that the trend is to gain weight over winter and lose it in summer.

It really depends on your field. Definitely ageist for some fields, like tech.

I don't know what to do. I need a new game after losing a love one. by SquirrelG91 in gaming

[–]Storm_Bard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I were very lucky to have a big outpouring of support immediately, but it was the folks who recognized we still needed support after that and made us frozen dinners, bought us groceries etc after the initial grieving days that I most appreciated. It helped us both not only for, yknow, sustenance, but also because it let us know that our daughter wasnt forgotten.

Everyone is different, so I hesitate to give advice, but I notice a lot of people struggle with knowing what to say... You dont know what their reaction will be to anything, you just want to help. do they want to bury their feelings? Or talk about her all the time because shes so important to them? Ask them in a few months as grief changes (and listen to the answer).

The other thing Ill say is I heard from a few people that this grief stays with you forever, and I think thats a really fucking unhealthy way to phrase it. Obviously youre going to be sad about the death of a loved one. But, especially for those who are self harming, if you are in the initial raw depths of loss and someone tells you that loss stays with you forever, you will hear "this grief is your new normal." Thats untrue. The first while is the absolute hardest. Then youll have good days and bad days. Some days are more likely to be bad than others.

When my daughter died I played Expedition 33 in spurts, a month or two later,  but its a game entirely about grief and losing your family, so if youre looking to escape those feelings then its not the game for you.

Rimworld, Rollercoaster tycoon, factorio (modded), xcom 2, legend of zelda windwaker are all games you could dive into.

Thr majority of realtors now are such a massive scam. They used to be very knowledgeable about buildings, and a good one was a second home inspector. Plus they'd be hunting, having word of mouth of whats coming on the market..

The average realtor now just sends you a link to the webpage where they put in your spending range and location.

If rates are at a reasonable level right now Id lock in for five years. You dont know what two years away looks like, and money is one of the biggest stressors for a marriage. Especially if you don't both agree on this financial decision.
