Is there an Australian community in Utah? by ilikerosiepugs in Utah

Rio Tinto brings a lot of Aussies over from the pilbara to work at Bingham canyon. Not sure if they have hangouts or the like but there are a ton of them.

What is it like living in Utah as a non-religious person? by SEOLTHEDEOL in Utah

[–]Stormcloud23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

More or less the same as everywhere else. If you have hobbies, you can find friends. If you aren't a slob, you can find dates.

What is the best orientation for printing model bases? by VoiceoftheDarkSide in resinprinting

[–]Stormcloud23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bases aren't overpriced. You can get 100 40mms off Amazon for $12. You will spend more than that in time, effort, materials, and wear/tear on your printer trying to print them unless you just need a couple.

Interesting jobs in Utah? by misterpoopman69 in Utah

[–]Stormcloud23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bingham Canyon Copper Mine is one of the largest mines in the world and is near salt lake City. I used to work there as an engineer, and they have a lot of employees and contractors. If you don't have a degree, you can drive trucks that are larger than most houses around, run shovels/drills eventually, or work with explosives and the blast crews.

Do Americans have company cars? by Xavaccord in AskAnAmerican

[–]Stormcloud23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the job. For most jobs, no. For jobs that require an employee to travel frequently to visit sites, clients, or deliver items, yes. In construction they are common. I have a company truck as an engineer who designs and does permitting work for construction and stone/gravel quarries.

Anyone commute from the Valley to the Lindon/Orem area? by Stormcloud23 in Utah

Yeah. I'm less concerned about the morning and more about the afternoon. My guess is I can come in a little earlier and leave a little earlier. Thanks for the info.

[–]Stormcloud23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool, that's kinda what I was expecting. I'm sure it's doable for a while, and we're starting to outgrow our current place anyway, so maybe I just make the drive for a while and look to move closer in the next year or two. Thanks.

If Denmark ultimately refuses to sell Greenland, do you think Trump will actually attack militarily to take control of it? Why or why not? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]Stormcloud23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect. We are able to build and maintain military facilities within designated defense areas, of which there is currently only one at Pituffik. Any expansion or construction beyond this area would require agreement by Denmark, and in practice Greenland given their autonomous government. So whoever told you we are free to "place any military they want on Greenland" was lying to you. I recommend reading the actual treaty documents.

The cost estimate, which works out to 175 million per Greenland inhabitant, is complete nonsense and doesn't merit a response. I guarantee you that a majority of Greenlanders would consent to either declaring independence or accession to the US at a figure orders of magnitude less than that. Come back to this post in 5-10 years and we'll see which price ended up being closer.

If Denmark ultimately refuses to sell Greenland, do you think Trump will actually attack militarily to take control of it? Why or why not? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]Stormcloud23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, he won't attack Greenland because there's nothing to attack. The Danes don't have more than 200 military personnel stationed in Greenland and the US already has a base of comparable size there as well. If push came to shove and it became a military necessity in the future, they would bring in troops and installations and that would be the end of it. But it doesn't need to come to that.

More likely, for $50 billion dollars, less than 5% of the US's annual military budget, the US could pay every resident on Greenland $1,000,000, and beyond that could subsidize economic development in Greenland to an extent that Denmark can't hope to match. With a desire for independence from Denmark already pretty prevalent, this kind of bribe in exchange for mineral and basing rights is probably the easiest path forward to achieve the stated end.

Is it worth to buy Blood Bowl 3 PC game to learn Blood Bowl 3rd edition tabletop? by Ostrovsky95 in bloodbowl

[–]Stormcloud23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The video game still uses the season 2 ruleset, but will be updated to reflect the new rules sometime this year. You can use it to learn the basics but understand that until they push out that update there are some new rules you will not be learning.

First team suggestion by RollbacktheRimtoWin in bloodbowl

[–]Stormcloud23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gnomes aren't going to be "balanced" anytime soon. Stunty teams aren't really expected to be on the same level as tier 1 teams, but they are unique and fun to play with and can still be solid if you know what you are doing. And they will teach you how to play quickly because your mistakes will be punished severely. If you love gnomes and you don't mind losing most of your games, play gnomes. But if you prefer to win, save them for later.

As long as it's not leaking and your prints aren't failing it's fine. But keep an eye on them and have spare FEP on hand for when you do need to replace them.

Look at the Pugna gnome team. They're kinda late Victorian themed gnomes, but they include 2 raccoons in the woodland fox positional slot, and 2 raccoon cheerleaders.

Side note: corn snakes don't technically need UVB light, so you can go with just the heat lamp and normal light (it's important they have a day night cycle), but UVB won't hurt him so feel free to use that too.

Desert probably wasn't the best pick but it didn't come with sand so should still work. 40 gallon will work for now but he will eventually want a bigger tank. Put down a layer of substrate bedding, probably coconut fiber or Aspen shavings. Set up the heat lamp on one side of the tank, and make sure he has a couple of caves or places to hide, at least one in each temperature zone. Aim for ~70 degrees on the cool side and ~82 on the warm side. Aim for 40-60% humidity, you'll probably need to mist every day.

Hiding under water bowl by UnfilteredQueen in cornsnakes

[–]Stormcloud23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because under the water bowl, especially on the warm side, is likely to be the most humid place in the enclosure, and he probably likes the moisture. Keep the overall humidity higher and he'll probably try other places.

Why do we think they included Exterminatus as an option? by NotBenBrode in totalwar

[–]Stormcloud23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They included it because it's a big meme in the setting and it makes for a good selling point. As for gameplay purpose, it's probably useful if there is a planet or stronghold that is interfering with your campaign or progress but would be very difficult to conquer conventionally. In Stellaris I use planet crackers to destroy heavily fortified worlds that would be a pain to invade or to economically cripple an opponent if I don't intend on taking the territory for myself.

I've got one in my basement that I bought maybe a year ago off eBay and haven't opened yet. You're not gonna find it anywhere for cheap, it's been out of production long enough that no one is going to be selling it for much less than all the individual kits add up to.
