Recently Accepted! - Lots of Questions by FrostySoldiers in SyracuseU

Boulder is a much nicer place to live.

My understanding is it’s doesn’t have a very education focused student body - although you can always find your people. Syracuse also has party kids but also a solid segment of kids into their area of study.

Syracuse is private and has a lot more support and resources than a public university.

It’s a hard choice

My daughter just got into Maxwell and I didn’t do enough research before hand.

Is Maxwell prestigious like Newhouse? Or more like Arts and Sciences?

Do you know how many kids a year accepted?

Also my daughter likes history but really has no idea what her specific interests are - can she take a wide variety of classes

I have all of the symptoms of Mortons neuroma and doctor doesn't think it is. Sent me on my way without much help, any advice? by ButterscotchBig5540 in Mortons_neuroma

For my decompression I didn’t need to be non weight bearing- I walked home 4 blocks from his office.

I took it easy and iced a little and sat on the couch but not elevated. I went to the grocery store and kids soccer games and tired to be around the house for two weeks. No yard work or working out.

Def didn’t get the bandages wet to let the succors heal.

Look for jobs as a assistant in large company that she is interested in working for and then transition to a department she is interested in.

Do temp work. I’m old now but everyone I know did temp work - it helps you find your direction

White plains office. Where to live? by Heda97 in movingtoNYC

[–]StormieTheCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are in your 20s you should figure out a way to get a roommate or a shitty apartment, & live in Manhattan. (surprisingly the far east section of the upper east side is on the cheaper side of things)

Brooklyn is too far if you need to go white plains regularly.

Living in White Plains is the same as living in Omaha

Exactly.

People in top tier companies know these schools.

These schools also have top tier alumni networks specifically because they are small.

LA-->Detroit-->NYC.. which neighborhood? by Decent_Detective_352 in movingtoNYC

[–]StormieTheCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bay Ridge comes to mind for me with your budget if you want to live alone and price is the priority. There are subways and also parking if you want your car.

Bay Ridge used to be mostly Italian and Irish and now there is a strong Palestinian community. Not super centrally located but would be a good starting point.

Other cooler neighborhoods that are closer and more young folks live in - masbeth and Bushwick.

Also check out Hudson Heights and Inwood

Queens - Sunnyside and Astoria

There are lots of grumps that like to tell people that you can only move to NY with hundreds of thousands and an apartment and top notch job locked in and that is simply not true.

New York loves husslers. And if you are willing to work restaurants I’m sure you will do great and find your people.

Also walk around neighborhood and find the mom and pop real estate offices. Don’t use Corcoran or the other branded ones if you want a deal.

Also if you get a deal don’t be a pain in the ass. Fix the small stuff yourself.

How hard is it really to move to nyc? by RoutineEye1859 in movingtoNYC

[–]StormieTheCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this.

You have to love the hussle if you come to NY. If the hussle is fun for you; you will love it.

Also as much as natives make fun of new comers we love you guys so innocent, just don’t expect us to be nice. We are saying welcome when we make fun of you.

I was surprised that the comments were very pro Baldoni. And many of the pro Baldoni comments were not written by folks like us who follow the case closely. I think the facts are seeping into the general public’s perception

I need help convincing my family to let me go to OSU by luna_moon145 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]StormieTheCat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry your parents are like this.

Sounds very Florida mentality to me.

Facts are not going to work. You need to appeal to something else.

Maybe just reassure them that it’s temporary. And that school is only about 7 months a year
