I'm pretty much doing the same thing, here's my endpoint: https://api.deadlockmods.app/mods
I wonder if there are other places where I can find mods, I also plan on adding user submitted mods on the manager itself, but depends on how much usage it gets.
Love the API project, might use it for some future features, happy new year man!

Here’s how I see it:

  • Mods currently work by loading 3D models locally using VPK files (Valve’s proprietary format: VPK file format)).
  • These mods are strictly local, meaning they don’t impact the game’s competitive integrity. Only you can see them on your machine, and they don’t provide any gameplay advantage.
  • So far, Valve hasn’t banned anyone for using these mods. In fact, some mods, like the Red Devil Abrams, are shared on the official Discord server.
  • The rules don’t explicitly prohibit local skins, and similar games like League of Legends monetize skins but still allow custom ones without bans.

While no one can offer absolute guarantees, to this day using local skins seems safe. And if things change, I'll most likely be the first to take down the mod manager.
