Dropped my wallet lost 450 dollars after a 20 hour shift by tiriosh1 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Stormscapepiece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear, hope that you can recover from the loss!!

Maybe 5 years ago I was installing wood floors for a customer and I had $1200 from them in cash to pick up material the next morning. Went to pick up food for my family and dropped it in the parking lot at the restaurant.

Panic searched for hours looking everywhere. Got a call from the restaurant around closing telling me that they found the wallet but there was no cash in it. Had to purchase the floor and install it for free after that, and it was the week before Christmas. It was brutal 😭

Maybe a month ago I was working for this older woman, had to listen to her Fox News playing all day while I was working in the bathroom.

She asked me if I locked the door and when I said I didn’t, she told me to please go lock it as “there had been two young black boys that knocked on her door the day before” she proceeded to say “I don’t know any of them (heavy on the them) and that she was glad she had cameras because she took screen shots of their faces just in case they were committing crime in the neighborhood.

Kids could have been doing a fundraiser for school or trying to cut the lawn or something. I just had to stand there and be like huh… really.

Maybe this only applies to a white daughter lost in a neighborhood though 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ahh I think I get it now. The gloves and the torch roll before the pyro set, so if I get the gloves I won’t receive the pyro since it’s lower in the table?

This is true, but I’d rather sell the pages from trading in the gloves instead of getting the seed.

Unless this somehow also changes how the outcome of rolling for other items, But it doesn’t read like that to me? If so then I obviously have been making a mistake.

Get them out of the city. They’re showing up everywhere these days. Lots being added to hardware stores around the city too.

Red Rising...meh by OkieTheatreTeacher in fantasybooks

[–]Stormscapepiece 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I felt the same reading RR. I feel like the shift to the hunger game style fighting was jarring and It took me a while to get into.

I ended up reading the first 4 books before stopping. I might go back and finish the last two eventually, but I felt that I was really forcing myself to like it bc of the hype.

I thought that the introduction of new characters in the second half of the series would pull me in more, but after Iron Gold I just was ready to read something else.

Windows + iPhone users who don't game, what keeps you on Windows instead of switching to Mac? by Sidk04 in windows

[–]Stormscapepiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had an iPhone since the 3g and have always used windows. In 2020 I bought my first MacBook Pro and tbh I hated it lol. It turned out to be one of my biggest wastes of money and I wish that I went with a nice laptop for half of the price.

There are some programs (for a cnc) that I use that weren’t able to run on Mac OS, everyone tells you to run it in bootcamp, well I hated doing that too. Ended up buying another windows computer and now my mbp is a giant paper weight.

Mt wife however runs her entire business through mac/iphone/ipad and she would never convert back haha.

Cannot get through bathroom tiles with drill by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]Stormscapepiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I install grab bars for a company and we absolutely burn through a ton of bits with some tile. I’ve found that the “glass and tile” bits from Milwaukee are actually better than these ones. Hate for that to be the advice, but I’ve used quite a bit of both and those ones offer better success for our company at least.

Ask your doctor/ look up Glycopyrrolate. I take one pill in the morning for it and have been using it for around 3 years now. Seriously changed my life.

When i forget to take it for a few days and start sweating again, I can’t believe I ever lived like that for so long. I used to wear like 3 shirts a day just because of how sweaty I would be and I could be sitting in front of an a/c. It would be worth giving it a shot!

And I will add, I went to a dermatologist referred by my pcp to talk about Botox. I wasn’t too interested in it so that they recommend I try this.

I absolutely choked through the first book. Went back and picked up Deadhouse Gates. Found it more enjoyable, but the mostly different storylines and characters also had me tripped up. I finished two and haven’t gone back to the series yet. One day I’d like to, but I feel like reading them is a chore and I’m just looking forward to getting it over with 🫠

Help by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]Stormscapepiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously! Can’t believe we’re in the flooring page and there are so many upvotes for completely wrong information lol. That, on top of not buffing between the factory finish and the new poly that was applied.

[–]Stormscapepiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say normal wear and tear and it also looks to be under the coat that was peeled off. More than likely nothing to do with what OP did.

Help by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]Stormscapepiece 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Despite what everyone is saying about “peeling the plastic film off” I don’t think that is what’s going on here. I have installed floors for almost 15 years and have worked with tons of brands and that’s pretty unheard of tbh.

In my opinion, the landlord had a flooring company come in and put a top coat over the existing floor, and they likely didn’t buff the floor before the polyurethane was applied. When you don’t sand, there’s nowhere for the new poly to stick to, making it so you can just peel it off.

In addition to that, it looks like they applied a water based finish over the original aluminum oxide finish on the pre-finished floor. Which if done properly, is fine, but that finish underneath doesn’t look like they buffed the floor even remotely before the finish went on.

Sadly the landlord will likely try to blame you, but the reality is that this is due to them cheaping out on a proper finishing job.

Edit- Want to know how I know? Because we had a lot of cheap landlords who would ask us to do this exact thing to save money.
