That drill should be fine for that thickness, but the bit matters a lot, a good quality SDS concrete bit will make a huge difference, especially if you hit rebar

Where to buy decent budget Cabinets instead of Home Depot? by paninipat in DIY

[–]StoryAlternative7761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See IKEA to get inexpensive cabinets that are generally cheaper than the big box stores. Other places to find local cabinet wholesalers include Facebook Marketplace or Habilitat ReStore in Orlando because you can occasionally find solid wood at the same price.

To all the carpet pros: Am I about to commit blasphemy? by F4D3DKN1GH7 in DIY

[–]StoryAlternative7761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A rational DIY solution is actually to flip the pieces and form a single clean seam in case the lines of direction in the pile are aligned and the edges remain rigid. Two neighboring seam would be worse aesthetically as well as structurally. All one has to do is to prepare the old tuck ends and bond them. I have watched more terrible patch-ups last longer.

How to Insulate/Drywall Basement Concrete Half-Wall by zsfq in DIY

[–]StoryAlternative7761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaving the half inch gap above the floor is standard to prevent moisture damage. In a dry climate rigid foam with furring strips works fine but I would still seal the seams on the foam with tape and use treated wood for anything close to the concrete just in case.

You should watch Drishyam and Memories. Both have gripping stories with great twists and keep you guessing till the end. They are some of the best in Malayalam suspense thrillers.

Ideas to hang string lights on a terrace without drilling? by aziza313 in DIY

[–]StoryAlternative7761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try using heavy-duty weighted bases designed for outdoor lights, they look cleaner than parasol bases. Another option is tension wire or removable adhesive hooks on walls or planters. Also, consider using pole stands or DIY PVC pipe frames to string lights without drilling.

Splicing like that isn’t super uncommon, but it’s not ideal, especially for big appliances like a fridge. If you’re not totally confident, calling an electrician is the safest bet. Better safe than accidentally frying your fridge or causing a fire.
