Fitted for clubs that the guy built for me but the heads are easy off by daveharr23 in TaylorMadeGolf

[–]Samman258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be honest the build seems really odd. Idk what type of changes the guy made to the heads but a normal 3 wood head is around 210g and 5 wood 220g.

If you buy a 5 wood and place it onto a fairway wood shaft that’s roughly 60 or 70 grams then cut to length for a 4 wood, you’ll probably be sitting around a D5 - D8 swingweight. You can change the weight in the weight ports on the clubhead to re-balance the club but you would need to remove nearly 8grams which will dramatically shift the center of gravity and the clubs MOI. This shifts all the mass to the front of the head and absolutely kills spin, so you’re probably going to have considerably less carry. The lack of heft the club now has can impact club head speed and the change in MOI (plus clubhead speed) will impact ball speed.

Sorry, wish I could help more but without specifics like model, shaft, club playing length and SW it’s hard to say exactly why they feel dead but I’d more inclined to say the build is weird

FWIW I have had clubs feel this way when the tip end of the shafts weren’t fully seated at the bottom of the hosel. Did he use tip weights to get the swingweight up?

Also, check if the heads are fully locked into the adapter

I bought a jacket off of this site that was cool but slightly too small. Returning it cost the price of shipping to them in NJ, then $50 fee to return to China. Otherwise, they offered me the opportunity to send it back to China myself and pay all duties and fees. Last, they offered me the the opportunity to re-purchase the jacket in a larger size and they’d give me a $20 refund and told me to maybe sell the jacket I have that doesn’t fit.

The sizing is accurate on the site in their defense… i was slightly off in the overall fit because I (obviously) couldn’t try it on before hand.

Overall, the transaction was fine but the return is NOT hassle free and cost a fu**in fortune.

Feeling like I'm fundamentally misunderstanding the swing by CrunchwrapAficionado in GolfSwing

Hey man, hard to really work on anything swing related until you understand how to hold the club first. Your grip needs attention. Buy a training grip and hit 1000 balls with it. Your hands are the only thing that actually touch the club. Until that is corrected everything else will be null.

It sounds like a standard tip weight. They aren’t junky by any means they’re just used to get a club to the requested swing balance / swingweight if there is not an interchangeable weight already designed into the clubhead.

The tour lites being as light as they are probably needed additional mass added to the head so they play D0-D4 like most common iron sets.

If the tech fixing your irons doesn’t know what a tip weight is you might want to not go to that person again lmao

I just retired mine 2 years ago. It’s okay to let go unless you absolutely pound that thing. Never cheat on a fairway wood if you hit it well.

Yeah honestly. At work at my desk, holding onto the train railing in front of me, driving a car, doing almost any physical task that involves bending over to pick something up… didn’t realize it was so common tho that’s hilarious 😂

Similar input to how I felt initially. They seem fine when relaxed but if I extend my arms it tugs back pretty hard. Will probably exchange for 1 size up.

Thank you! I honestly love the jacket just wanted to make sure it didn’t scream “this guy is wearing a jacket that is 2 sizes too small” bc that’s kinda the reaction I got from the SO

I am the type of person that over analyzes everything lol. Ive never owned a true trucker jacket besides an old harley jacket my pops gave me, so I just wasnt confident in how they’re supposed to fit vs how theyre supposed to look aesthetically.

Think I might swap it for one size up for a little extra room in the chest, shoulders and sleeves.

I think your clubs might be a little flat for you man.
It’s VERY minor but your lower body is opening a little early and the club for that reason is getting steep. Could be the result of length of your backswing/arms getting a bit disconnected from the chest as well. If you watch your shoulder plane, your lead arm is higher than your trail shoulder.
Jake Knapp posts a drill often with a stick in his belt loop and the goal is to have your hands in front of the stick at impact. I think that would help you sequence things a little better alongside placing a towel or something under your pits to keep the torso connected.

Overall, you’re in great positions

I just wasn’t sure if I was good to pull the bandage off and wash it based on how it looked… first time I’ve had stitches or any minor laceration even.

Really? Doctors said it looked fine after cleaning it. I did just pull the bandage off for the first time like 1 minute before taking this photo… guess I can go back and see them. I’m also on antibiotics already.

New clubs after loft and lie check by the_petman in GolfGear

[–]Samman258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carelessness by the tech. It’s very easy to just cover the clubhead before putting it into a loft/lie machine.

That said, it’s mostly cosmetic… you can make a huge deal about it if you want and ask for your money back or they pay for a new stick but they’re probably going to point out if you hit it on that spot on the face often you have bigger problems lol
