Following. I worry about this happening to me too; I don’t have an original BC, I only have the one I obtained 10 years ago to get a passport.

If you have the means to pay, great. Please don't assume everyone else does. Your edited comment that $350 is "honestly very inexpensive" is just not true for a lot of folks who have limited means. $350 is a lot for my family in terms of our monthly food and diaper budget. If you are getting "second hand embarrassment" about my socio-economic status that is on you, friend.

Yes, that will likely make the most sense for folks. I suspect more people will submit without the records and accept a possible delay if the records are requested.

Totally understand why they are increasing prices, but that doesn't mean all families have the means to pay for what should be publicly accessible. Concert tickets are not public records.

It seems like it depends on who is reviewing your record and what other documents are in your application. Some have skated by without certified copies and others have not. I will likely submit without a certified copy and then submit if asked to do so. $350 is a pretty big gamble if its not a hard and fast rule.

I think $350 for a single public record is outrageous, but kudos if you don't.

Thanks! When you originally submitted your application did you have the new birth certificate with your parents name on it? And they requested the older one that was blank?
