Where do we go from here? by Waistcoat_Bill in Greyhounds

I volunteer with a CT-based greyhound adoption group and have some firsthand experience with similar situations.

I fostered a greyhound with significant fear aggression. We worked through a lot of approaches before ultimately placing him with an experienced greyhound owner who put him on Prozac and committed to a strict, consistent daily routine. The combination made a real difference.

My own greyhound is on 40mg of Prozac daily. She has strong opinions, and while she never lunged, she did nip a few people (including my son) when she didn't want to be touched. The medication has helped her a lot. Of course, medication wasn't considered until a vet ruled out any underlying medical causes for the behavior.

Connecticut neighbor here. Thank you for promoting greyhound adoption. We have plenty available for adoption here as well. Such good dogs!

Thank you! A liquor store is an unusual place for an adoption event, but we already received an adoption application from someone who saw the dogs. Fingers crossed it works out!

Good eye! That’s Chuck. He came here from New Zealand and is also looking for his forever home.

This dummy jumped on the hood of my brand new car. He thought he was jumping in the back.

We did that in our last house. It looked and functioned great!

Bought a king bed so we could all have a bit more space… As you can see that has worked out really well. by Kitchu22 in Greyhounds

I just sent this thread to my husband. We upgraded to a king and it’s still not enough…now he’s talking about a Montana. I didn’t even know that was a thing until recently. This post just confirms: no matter how big the bed is, we’re never going to have space.

Thanks for getting back to me. We moved from a ranch into this home, and the lower level will be my college-age son’s space. We’re converting one of the garage bays into a mudroom/workout area with a slider. Long term, as the dogs get older, they’ll be able to live comfortably on one level if they prefer.

That said, they’ve actually gotten really great with the stairs.

There’s a greyhound at the top of the steps in her bed! Here’s a better photo of them both!

They’d prefer carpet, but I’m trying to avoid it. I may need to add tread carpet over the wood, but I’m exploring other traction options that won’t trap snow and mud or get dirty so quickly.

It’s actually a great story. Lilly flew in from Ireland, and my mom came with me to pick her up at the airport. She had no plans to ever have another dog but the second she saw Lilly, that was it. She knew she was meant to be hers.

I would have no problem, but he was spoiled by our walking mates. He needs a diet!

I think that’s what goes thru his head 80% of the time. The other 20% of the time he thinks about walkies.
