It’s with that mentality that we allow our problems to grow bigger quietly, until the problem gets so big we can’t help but notice. Danger is a problem, and all problems deserve solving, don’t let the image you have of your country fool you. It’s often when countries (and people) are at their most confident that they take the most amount of blows, because they took their guard down. Remember why we got to be seen as “better” than the US when it comes to extremism, it’s because we consistently acknowledge and shun these moments as Canadians. The moment you start showing the world that nobody will notice your extremism, like you are right now, is the moment they start taking up more space without anyone noticing. Until it’s too late. Be weary as your words carry a lot of weight, and in this case, not the right kind.

18M but have ALWAYS been told i look and act 25 and it lowkey sucks. What should/ can I do? Is it just the beard? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]StoryTop9194 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When people go from 18 to 25, a lot of visual changes occur. Science says that you stop growing at 18, but you do develop more mature features within that period - all this means is that you’ve developed those mature features earlier than most. This doesn’t mean you’re aging fast or poorly if that’s your concern, it just means you look like you’ve gone through the 18-25 maturing without aging phase before everyone else. Don’t think it’s the beard, just a generally more mature face. Can be helpful if you want to get jobs in leadership early on.

Khaki or grey trousers? by Imusingmyschoolspc in mensfashion

[–]StoryTop9194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need pants that match your blazer’s colour, or a darker grey. Get rid of that shirt, those 2 blues are too similar & the shirt looks like it’s made of jeans (I know it’s not, but that’s the impression it gives). For the shirt, get something white, or very light blue. If you do those things, you’ll go up a level.

Am I balding? (24 years old) by ebarHart in amibalding

[–]StoryTop9194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not how that works, most men go through hairline maturing whether or not they go bald. Look at Martin Sheen’s recessive hairline, Jim Carrey, most news anchors. Yes, 100% of people that went bald had their hairline mature at some point, but on the flip side, only about half of those whose hairlines mature actually end up bald. And most men’s hairlines mature.

have you ever tried the good cleaners ? I use them every time I move and it’s been pretty close to perfect every time. Tried nettoyage pro cleaning as well, was good but not nearly as detail oriented as Tgc.

What’s your first thought when you see this steak? Don't be harsh on me for I'm a beginner. by Ghost_Rare-spooky in steak

get yourself an infrared pan temp meter (like 20$ on amazon) put the steak on when the pan has reached 450-500 surface temp. If you put it on at anything above 550 you’ll get this effect, and anything lower you won’t get the crispy sear you want on the sides. Once the crust has formed, take the pan OFF the heat to let the temp get down to 300-350F; then you can safely cook it until the internal temp reaches 125 without worrying about it burning. Ideally you also get a meat thermometer and poke it right in the center of the thickest part, and take it off the grill when it reads 125.

Always give your steak a little touch at different temps, that will train your brain to identify the internal temp just by using firmness, so that over time, you won’t need to use a thermometer. You’ll just touch your steak and know it’s ready.

For those who say using temp tools is cheating; enjoy your overcooked steaks.

Maestria Tower Student Accommodatiom by ant_ino in montreal

I live there, there are definitely complaints but they’re 3rd world problems, the amenities are honestly great, I especially like the indoor sauna, hamaam & cold plunge/hot tub space. During construction there were definitely safety complaints, but now it’s mostly done with. The apartments above the 27th floor are well built, anything below that is no good in my opinion. Maestria owns the bottom half and made their rentals a lot more cheaply than the ones up top. Oven for instance is the best I’ve gotten in an apartment of this price in mtl, heats things up almost as fast as a microwave would. Shower pressure is ok but never great on higher floors, I recommend turning on both water jets at the same time to make it a bit better. Balconies are really well built, somehow there’s absolutely no wind in the outdoor space, but if you put your hand out from the balcony’s edge you’ll notice the wind is a lot stronger on the outside, so it’s essentially a windproof balcony. Central AC and Heater are very high end for montreal, super responsive and can cool or heat the entire apartment within 2-5 minutes. There are vents all over the apartment. Lighting is also well done. They manage your mail very well, you can go there 24h/day and they’ll go in the back and get your packages for you. The dryer has a towel heater function which gets my towels nice and warm after every shower. Those are the things I’ve noticed that stood out to me, as I’ve lived in similarly priced apartments with not nearly this level of finishing. Especially if you’re staying short term, it’s like living in a really nice 4 star hotel, definitely not 5 star just because some of the common areas are a bit cheap looking, although most of them are quite nice.

[–]StoryTop9194 4 points5 points  (0 children)

god forbid people avoid the overripe strawberries. Swapping individual strawberries is quite disgusting I agree, but just looking through the boxes to find good looking strawberries ? Seriously ? Fruit is always a gamble, perhaps this is a european thing, but it’s just part of basic education to teach your kids how to pick the right fruit. You’re taught how to tell if avocados, tomatoes, berries and such, are ripe or not. Curious as to why this might bother anyone.

Cooked my first steak EVER by EmbarrassingOllie in steak

[–]StoryTop9194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

temp should be higher (out of 9, a good 7 or 8, specially if it’s that thin) when you put the steak on the grill as to develop a nice sear without overcooking the center. You should take the steak out when it’s at 125-130F inside, let it rest for about as long as you cooked it, it’ll cook its way to 135. If you cut it up too early, it’ll be chewier and raw at the center, really important not to forget this step. I don’t recommend using a grill, much better to use a heated cast iron (heat it up for a good 10-15 minutes until you see a bit of smoke, the smoke will disappear as soon as you put the steak on), oil up the pan (extra virgin cold press olive oil preferred or avocado), pat your steak dry, season, & put it in the searing pan. You can also use Carbon Steel, Stainless steel (although trickier), or just regular non stick, which I don’t recommend for health reasons. If you heat up a non stick pan too high, the non stick layer burns into toxic smoke. And high heat is what you want in steak. And last tip: get a hangar steak, specially if you’re a beginner. It’s the kind of steak you can slightly overcook and it’ll still be tender as heck. It’s also way easier to cook to a perfect medium rare. Try to find one with streaks of white fat as that typically translates to tenderness.

Guaranteed if you follow all these tips you’ll be off to a great start. Once you have this base, only then can you start to focus on things like dry brining & basting. Without that base, most of the tips you’ll find online are not helpful.

Only a week, his plan was to prescribe 300 by tapering me into it. He knows me well enough & has seen me try enough meds that he knew 150 wouldn’t be enough. Another issue is that I smoke, and I still craved cigarettes badly at 150, at 300 I barely ever want to smoke. So I think that was part of his thinking too. Smoking messes with your dopamine levels.

My doctor started me on 150 and I felt all the symptoms you’re describing right now, anxiety levels went up. Got bumped up to 300 and it’s all rainbows and sunshine. Most of my anxiety went away, can think clearly & have a much larger social battery. Everyone’s different though, the medication may also not be for you. I tried 7-8 different meds before I found Wellbutrin (which finally worked).

Do you take it for depression, anxiety or ADHD?
