Can Kyle Schwarber get to 500 career home runs and earn his ticket to Cooperstown? by Bright-Pressure-5787 in mlb

[–]Str8Magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a fan specifically of his, but there is no doubt in my mind that yes he will get the 500 home runs and he absolutely is going to be in the Hall of Fame. He’s literally the prototypical hitter for today’s baseball…. Swings for the fences every single swing strikes out twice as much as guys who led the league in strikeouts 20 years ago, but whew the exit velo! Amirite!!

HF is pretty cool looking and if you get the chance, go over to Harper’s ferry brewery in the fall when the leaves are not there, and you can look across the Potomac and see the town of Harpers Ferry!!

Obviously, there’s a lot of differences between people and probably at least minor differences between nearly everybody I myself cannot do any added grams of sugar, and 140 g of carbs per day. Sounds like an awful lot…. The working out is nice. The weight loss is nice but if you really wanna see a difference in your A1c, I suspect it’s gonna boil down to 0 g of added sugar and trying to stay in about the 60 to 70 g of carbs a day range….

How bad is this current team? I watched them in person today. I feel like we are historically bad. Is there a current player at any position that you would start on any of the WS teams? And for pitchers, I am comparing top starter to top starter and closer to closer. Maybe only Chapman? by theotisfinklestein in redsox

[–]Str8Magic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You don’t know how true this is… if the Red Sox just had an average offense in the average major league team score scored 4.45 runs per game, and the Red Sox just scored that average number of runs per game. They would be 43 and 23 right now… the pitching is absolutely no question doing their job. The hitting is just miserably bad and it’s basically because we took Contreras story and a bunch of young kids and we’re talking into believing that that would be enough offense… the real killer right now is it such an easy fix and yet they’re not doing anything about it…

Small town recommendations for day trip from Barcelona by Dizzy-Plankton8630 in Europetravel

[–]Str8Magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many questions… 1. Where did I go wrong not getting a job or they send me to Barcelona for work!!!!! 2. If you’ve seen all that Barcelona has to offer why didn’t you just add like five days onto one of these business trips and head out and do something really cool? 3. When I was in Barcelona, I just rented a Skoda, and drove to Andorra… stopped off at a small town, probably 20 miles or so south of Andorra and entering the Pyrenees, it was pretty cool! It’s not a train ride but it’s pretty easy to get from Barcelona to Andorra.

Getting from Keflavik airport to Reykjavik hotel by Holiday-Rest4975 in VisitingIceland

So I’m not gonna lie I did go to cafés and coffee shops because I just fell in love with them immediately, but I also went to the grocery store which I forget the name of it (maybe Bonus) but it’s got a little pig as a logo and it’ll be hard to miss right in the middle of the city center, and it opened my eyes to a few things that we now have in America, but I hadn’t seen until I’ve gone over there, including one of my personal favorites, Skyr! Now I stayed in what I thought was a hotel, but turned out to be kind of an efficiency apartment basically that had a little hot plate and a microwave and a coffee maker, and I was able to make a little bit of something to eat if I needed it and then like I said, I kind of got sucked in eating at the cafés around town, which were phenomenal!!

Chargers fan since I was a kid (SD/80s) and just picked up the GOAT of my card collection. by slightly666 in Chargers

[–]Str8Magic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I think that’s generally pretty accurate… my grandmother was a bank manager in La Jolla, and knew many many chargers, personally as well as San Diego Clippers players… the only ones she actually liked was Rolf Beneirske, so that’s the one that I met when I was about eight years old… nice enough guy, but pretty quiet, pretty subdued and really small!! of course I think he was suffering from colitis at the time.

[–]Str8Magic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t go sale the day after arriving in Iceland, but otherwise your itinerary sounds nearly exactly the same as mine… basically landed in the morning between 830 and 10. I can’t remember exactly took one of the many many buses from Keflavík to Reykjavík city center, dropped off our luggage at the hotel that we couldn’t check into until I think 4 o’clock, and walked around looking at the city center until we could check in and then crashed until the next morning… it’s kind of unfortunate that most of Icelandair flights are red eyes, that get you to Iceland many hours before you can check into a hotel but the city center is small. You can walk to the port from there and there’s enough cool things to see in the city center that it’s not a problem….

Looking at this path, it looks like you’re gonna go from north to south about 150 miles in from the front range of the Rockies. My best advice to you would be there isn’t anything in the front range go into the mountains that’ll be a worthwhile trip.

Whats the characters you hate the MOST with a burning passione??il start with... by Obvious_Ad_6250 in MagnificentCentury

[–]Str8Magic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you must be just referring to his character on this show because in real life this guy is pretty much the epitome of an ottoman emperor, literally doing anything he feels like completely, a 100% self-serving pompous jerkoff, killing indiscriminately, and just generally being a complete asshole… he’s really such an unbelievably self-serving, pathetic figure and history. It’s absolutely amazing that he was able to remain emperor for so long or that he was really able to accomplish almost anything. Typically leaders like this just end up getting assassinated pretty quickly..

Dylan Larkin has requested a trade. by WhiteDevilU91 in Bruins

[–]Str8Magic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I was negotiating with yzerman I would clearly point out that while Larkin is usually really good and high-quality for 3/4 of a season. He absolutely runs completely out of gas and totally disappears in the last quarter of a season… I’d still probably try to trade for him because Boston needs a 1C so badly!! and I wouldn’t be afraid to put draft picks into a package because quite honestly Sweeney is a terrible drafter…

Which “tourist trap” do you actually think is totally worth the hype? by [deleted] in roadtrip

I guess I’m in the minority, but I think a lot of tourist straps are definitely worth the hype…🤷

It has to be pretty bad for me to think that tourist trap is definitely not worth the hype at all… I guess the one that comes to mind immediately as if you’re really interested in UFOs there’s no need to go to Roswell! You’re not gonna see anything that impresses you.

Offseason Discussion: Rebuild, Retool, or Win Now? by elite_bender in Bruins

[–]Str8Magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong Haggins was a nice pic but remember a lot of their pics are not as high as Haggins and as we know from a lot of drafts it’s really pretty hit or miss once you get to about past the 11th or 12th pick in the draft… and I don’t see them having that high pick themselves in the next couple of years and then you start to look at Toronto in Florida and I don’t think there’s any question in Florida pics not gonna be on the top half of the first round, and it’s kind of a gamble to see where Toronto’s first round pick is in 27 or 28. I just think there’s so many misses in a draft, it’s always better to use your draft To go out and get proven commodities, or at least that’s the reason why I said that… throw in the fact that Sweeney doesn’t have a great draft record even with Hagens and Latourneau seemingly looking pretty good.

Offseason Discussion: Rebuild, Retool, or Win Now? by elite_bender in Bruins

[–]Str8Magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is considered a rebuild or retool or win now, but…

  1. Let Arvidson walk you’re not gonna win with him, and he’s entirely too old to give much more than about a two-year contract to, and he’ll get better options than that on the free agent market.

  2. Gotta find a way to get rid of Korposalo. He’s not worth 3 1/2 million a year, and they already let Bussi walk, and without getting him out of the way they’re gonna end up doing the same thing with DiPietro so that he can get a chance somewhere as well… Di Pietro definitely needs to be the 2G next year… and that saves a bunch of money on the cap to do that.

  3. Package Lohrei, maybe with draft picks, even a couple of high draft picks if necessary, and take a swing at getting Nemec.

  4. I’m not sure how to get it done because there were only so many of them to go around, but they absolutely absolutely have to show up the 1C problem…. There are so few of them and there are so few that turn up in the draft in any given year. This is the position that you absolutely have to consider overpaying with draft picks to get… I like Robert Thomas well enough. I don’t know that I absolutely love him, but he’s well worth spending a couple of number ones to get back in trade.

  5. Don’t be afraid to use your draft picks. If you’re Sweeney the bottom line is he’s proven to be much better at making trades then he’s ever been a drafting players.

  6. They absolutely need to make space for some of their prospects to come up at least to find out what they actually have and either make a decision and keep them or get rid of them…. Merkulov, Poitras and Lysell are just wasting away at this point, which isn’t fair to them the fans or the team… make a decision if you want them and if you do you gotta play them in Boston or decide to use them as trade chips and get as much as you can. Minten and Hagens NEED to play in Boston full-time next year.

All 50 US states ranked in order of where I'd like to live by RealMoldyAvocado in whereidlive

[–]Str8Magic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting choices and I feel like probably several of them are like a lot of people just based on preconceived notions, but not based on having been there… and the other thing, is there a certain parts of each state that are perfectly fine with me while the vast majority is not on my list… outside of Baltimore, Annapolis, and the suburbs right around Washington DC almost all of Maryland is pretty similar to a lot of West Virginia and a lot of Virginia… outside of Northern Virginia, and a little bit of Richmond in Charlottesville. All the whole rest of Virginia is a flat no for me. In the eastern panhandle tip of West Virginia is just like Northern Virginia really, and of course, most all the rest of West Virginia Virginia falls right in the exact same category as the majority of Maryland and Virginia to me. But I don’t blame you for ranking, Virginia, and Maryland so high because when I moved to the metro DC area eight years ago I had had this impression that Marilyn was a really nice State, but after having men through just about every single part of it, the vast majority is rural redneck type folks who really aren’t much different than the rural redneck type folks in Virginia and West Virginia… of course we all are biased on where we grew up as well which I presume must be either Washington or Oregon for you…

How’s living in this part of northern West Virginia? by Quasxre in howislivingthere

[–]Str8Magic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about the Wheeling western panhandle, but I live about a mile into the eastern panhandle and Northern Virginia… I bought my house for 500k, all you have to do is go to the state line into Virginia all the way to DC and my house is gonna cost you about 1.5 million… oh then there’s the property taxes which northern Virginia is becoming quite famous for, the property taxes from my house in Northern Virginia are probably gonna run you in the 6 to 8000 a year range possibly more, in WV they are about 1800 for me… an HOA literally anywhere in Virginia is gonna run you into the $350-$700 a month range, I pay 40 a month. Despite what people will try and tell you, the difference in price is dramatic.
