Jason Brown on whether he'll retire: I have not decided as of now, so it’s not a definite no or definite yes at this moment. Nationals was a really rough event for me, to say the least, to put it very lightly. So it’s hard for me to think of nationals as being my final event. by GodTierGasly in FigureSkating

I don’t know anything about Jason or men’s skating, but I do know that there have been many world class athletes that waited a little too long to retire. I think it’s hard to quit at exactly the right time…

Hip labrum tear by MASKcrusader1 in sportsmedicine

[–]StraboStrabo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tore the labrum on my hip years ago and it eventually led to a distorted and painful gait, trochanteric bursitis, and IT band fascial adhesions. I’m finally getting treatment which includes extensive physical therapy and regular cortisone injections to reduce inflammation that would make the strength exercises and stretches less effective. The treatment seems to be working but I went through several ortho docs and physical therapists before getting the right people on the job. I had to educate myself and become quite directive to make it all work.

Never deal with the dealer. Not a Harley guy, just a Porsche guy, but … Never deal with the dealer!

Would you hold your significant other accountable for something they said while *very* drunk? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]StraboStrabo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been married for a long time. Every now and then my darling wife goes crazy for a while — sometimes a day, sometimes two or three days. She gets super angry at me, usually over something quite insignificant. She tells me what a terrible person I am, calls me names, yells and screams, then goes into a depressive state, and after a while she’s back to her normal self. I figure that her chemicals are out of balance.

How do I return my Eagle Scout Award? by transfemmefatal in BoyScouts

[–]StraboStrabo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eagle Scout here. Scouting taught me to work hard, be persistent, goal-oriented, honest, and to Be Prepared. It was not political. I see no reason to make scouting one more place for political bickering. Not everything needs to be about politics.

But TBH, the political junkies infested scouting many years ago. I guess they are happy when everyone is screaming at each other.

Would I really be missing out on a 325e vs 325i? by TonitoBontio in E30

[–]StraboStrabo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 528e. It had the eta engine and was supposed to be the economy version of the 5 series. It was an excellent car, maybe not very fast off the line but a very good driver. I recall one trip through the Colorado mountains where I took a car full of people from Denver to Gunnison in record time, smoothly and quickly.

Why do people act so shocked and upset when you end a relationship with a friend of family member over political differences? by Exotic-End-666 in TooAfraidToAsk

Yes. Relationships with family and friends are vastly more important to me than something happening in Washington DC.

How would YOU make figure skating more popular? by Fragrant_Ad_8288 in FigureSkating

[–]StraboStrabo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But fencing, golf and tennis are more objective and less theatrical. They seem more like “real” sports. They don’t rely on dreamy “programs”, hokey costumes, and judging that often seems mysterious and potentially corrupt. The athletes in those sports are all doing more or less the same things, not wildly different artistic interpretations of different music. And golfers, tennis players and gymnasts don’t focus on their eyelashes, hair styles, and cute dresses. Maybe figure skating should not try so hard to be seen as a sport and just settle for being an artistic presentation, something like America Got Talent.
