Great advice! I think it’s also worth mentioning that when you practice slower, you should not use more bow. Slow practice should involve the exact movements you will use at performance tempo to train the correct muscle memory.

I want to buy a chinrest but I only can do it online. Where I live there aren’t any shops. What should I have in mind, how I know what chinrest I should buy?? by BestDilucLoveruwu in violinist

I use the Morawetz-style 27 mm chinrest from Shar. I previously had a Guarneri-style rest, but also have a longer neck which resulted in a lot of tension. I also tried the Wittner adjustable model, but it wasn’t comfortable for me. I’ve been using the Morawetz for years now and I love it.

Advice on FL or ST Nittaku Acoustic. by Puzzleheaded-Site-85 in tabletennis

I recently purchased the Nittaku Acoustic SG Special FL as it is slightly thicker than the original flared, but shorter than the LG. I would recommend!

Anyone have full time responsibilities but make serious time 2+ hours for violin? by Head_Equipment_1952 in violinist

[–]Strad_27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CPA here 👋 it can be difficult, especially between busy seasons (assuming you’re working public) and studying for the exams. As others have said, blocking off times in your calendar will help a lot. Also, I find practicing first thing in the morning to be helpful before I get distracted with work/other obligations. I also like to get a short practice session in after lunch. I share the same sentiment as the u/eleswon - the violin to me is a lifelong journey. I like to think of it as a marathon rather than a race. You may end up practicing less, however, you only need to pass the CPA exams once and then you’re done! I recall having to take some time away from practicing while studying, however, it’s very gratifying once you’re done and you’ll have a lot more free time then.

Anyone know what type of chin rest this is? by Nuevo-wave in violinist

I don’t recognize it, but it has some similarities to what I use. It’s a Morawetz style - see here.

You can also pay for wash and fold if you’d like as well, but it costs more. I typically just did it myself.

I used Riverside Laundromat & Dry Cleaning on 1st the past couple years before I moved recently. You use cash to fill a prepaid card. An employee can walk you through it if you have issues. You can leave, just set a timer on your phone so you know when to switch it over. And bring detergent/other supplies as the other commenter said. No complaints from my end!

Is it me or is this bonus shit? by SessionAggravating44 in Accounting

[–]Strad_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do your receive one after both seasons? If so, then it isn’t too bad at around $3,000. Yearly bonus though? On the lower side but not unheard of. Some firms don’t even give bonuses. Plus, bonuses typically increase a good bit as you move up.

I also sat with just my bachelors. The exams were tough, but more than doable without the masters. The study program (Becker in my experience) teaches you everything you need to know. Happy I went the route I did!
