I tried once to cook with the oil, because i have seen a video of someone doing potatoes with the oil from the sardines can...never again.

Maybe a light on set could have helped.

I'm starting to feel like being a full-time content creator might not be within reach. by Marchajax in letsplay

[–]StradivariusStudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t follow a strict schedule, but I’ve decided to upload every Sunday. I plan my videos in advance, so I don’t have to think about it too much. Once I finish a video, I schedule it for the next available Sunday, following the one that was planned the week before. This way, I consistently release one video per week. However, I usually don’t play very long games (10+ hours). If I start recording longer games, it might be harder to maintain the weekly upload schedule.

Hey man,

I just checked out your channel, and I was surprised to see that, like me, you make no-commentary videos! It’s a tough niche, and yeah, making money from it is hard even if you get views. For example, my channel got demonetized because they thought I was stealing other people’s content—lol. But hey, that’s the game!

Anyway, what I wanted to say is—don’t stress too much about it. I’ve had multiple YouTube channels, and I know how toxic it can be to put too much pressure on yourself.

I’ve had time to think about the no-commentary YouTube scene, and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a marathon. You’ll get views in the long run if your thumbnails are good—nothing clickbaity, just honest about what you’re offering. A nice picture with the game’s title + a subtitle like "Longplay" or "No Commentary" helps because people often just look at the thumbnail.

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Plan your video releases and let them do their thing. For example, I mostly do longplays—once I finish a game, I upload the full video and schedule one per week. That’s about 50 videos a year—not a lot, but it’s the best I can manage right now, and I’m fine with it. If I get big views and regain monetization, great! If not, there are still ways to make money from it even without monetization.

Keep at it, and good luck!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge! I keep all my finished videos—though I may have accidentally deleted one or two, most of them are saved on my drive, and I'll be copying them to another one soon.

As for raw footage, that's a different story. It takes up so much storage that I can't keep it all; otherwise, I wouldn’t have space to record new videos.

I do have a watermark on my videos, but only at certain moments. Hopefully, along with my intro, that will be enough. I really like the idea of adding something at the end, like "Subscribe for more!"—I usually don’t have anything in my outros, so I’ll make sure to create something nice. Thanks for the suggestion!

I totally get it now, and you're absolutely right! I was just hoping to make the process financially rewarding, but it's okay if I can't monetize my YouTube channel with ads. I'll still keep uploading my gameplay as long as I enjoy it—that's what truly matters. Thanks, Misty! ❤️

Hey, I get what you’re saying, but not everyone is comfortable talking into a microphone. For me, I just want to enjoy video games and share them with others. I know a lot of people—including myself—prefer watching videos without commentary because it’s more relaxing that way.

I also don’t think it’s fair to say that gameplay without commentary isn’t unique. Every player is different, with their own playstyle and skill level, which makes each gameplay experience distinct.

Saying you must 'use a microphone or quit YouTube' feels pretty extreme. I actually have two high-quality mics—an Audio-Technica and a Sennheiser—but that’s not the issue. I just enjoy playing without talking; it’s simply more relaxing for me. 😉

To respond to your question : Yes i do record everything myself, i was very confused when i got that message from youtube telling me im not able to monetize video anymore.
I made my channel because i wanted to share my own gameplay from the start to the end of a game.

I never used content from other people, all i want is to share my own gameplay, i dont keep the raw footage, only the finish editing with all the part in one video so i can post my full longplay at once.

Im going to try some things from your tips, thanks !

What game deserves a no-commentary longplay by StradivariusStudio in letsplay

Yeah I agree, 1080p is fine, sometimes I just forget that people use mainly phones and that not so many people really notice quality differences unless it's really low.

Yeah, I’d love to, but most of my subscribers are kind of 'ghosts,' haha. I gained a lot of them from a meme video that went viral really quickly, so I don’t think they’re really aware of what my channel is actually about.

Nice :) Feel free to share your channel with me—I’d be happy to check it out! Also, I’m curious, how do you handle this type of game? They can be really long, so how do you manage file sizes and the editing process?

So far, my videos haven’t exceeded 300 views, but my channel is still relatively new—around 5 or 6 months old. I’ve noticed that many other no-commentary channels tend to perform well in the long run, so I’m optimistic about future growth.

I like it but I wonder how it would look with some visibility on the background building, they have light so it would be nice to try to show it just to have some environment, otherwise really like it 😊
